Milonov proposed to ban dyed hair and makeup at school

According to the deputies, this will make life easier for students.

Who among us didn’t experiment with looks when we were a teenager? I remember that in our time eyelashes were dyed blue and green. And there was also pink mascara, which was used to highlight the strands. Yes, now you look at old photos and think: “What was that? What for?” But then it seemed that it couldn’t be cooler. And I am glad that my mother allowed all these experiments with appearance – it helped me to form my own taste and a clear idea of what I want from life.

But State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov would clearly tell my parents his “fi”. The day before, he decided to tackle the appearance of schoolgirls, banning them from cosmetics and dyed hair.

The deputy sent a letter about this to the Minister of Education of Russia Olga Vasilyeva. In his message, Milonov writes about “the inadmissibility of pupils showing their outward appearance of inclination or addiction to any informal cultural associations.”

“School is not a place to demonstrate your passions in music or to informal movements,” – he quotes RIA News letter from the deputy.

Milonov proposes to introduce “student etiquette” in schools, in which the norms of appearance will be clearly established. There it is also necessary to register points on the prohibition of make-up and dyed hair. Moreover, this document should regulate the behavior of students both at school and outside it. This means that after school, teenagers will not have an outlet.

The deputy is sure: such etiquette will only make life easier for schoolchildren. Say, peers will no longer have a reason to mock students who are not like everyone else.

However, the “fashionable sentence” in our schools began to arrange long before Milonov. In the spring of this year, in St. Petersburg, the schoolgirl was threatened with expulsion for pink strands. At the same time, the girl has no problems either with her studies or with discipline. And she refused to cut the colored strands. The case came to the ombudsman for the rights of the child.

“The issue of the ‘appropriate’ appearance of schoolchildren has not been settled at the federal level, this is just a subject of discussion, – explains the Ombudsman Svetlana Agapitova. – Specific wishes in appearance are prescribed in the local act of the educational institution. If you wish, you can add colored hair, piercings, and certain clothes and shoes to the list of “prohibited” – many schools, by the way, do this. In the presence of such clauses in the statutory provisions, violations of the rules can be punished by remarks, calling the parents, but not by expulsion. At the same time, parents should remember that the requirement to wear a uniform is not an empty whim of the school administration, but a norm of the law on education. “

But in Perm, the prosecutor’s office has already taken up the question of the appearance of schoolchildren. There, in one of the gymnasiums, a 15-year-old girl was suspended from lessons because of her pink hair. The local ombudsman called it discrimination, and the prosecutor’s office opened a case against the headmaster of the gymnasium, said that the school has no right to establish requirements for the color and length of students’ hair.

Interview

Do you agree that make-up and bright hair should be banned at school?

  • Yes, at school you need to think about learning, not about stupid things.

  • I’m against. Enough with children and school uniforms. The girls must somehow stand out.

  • I do not care. Let the schools decide for themselves.
