The first natural food in a person’s life is his mother’s milk. Doctors agree that this is the best type of food that can be provided to the body of a newborn baby. Breastfeeding is especially important in the first six months after birth, when milk is one of the staples of the diet.

However, not every mother can breastfeed her baby. Then there is a need to buy the right modified milk and the problem of how to choose the best one available.

How to dose milk to a newborn?

Young mothers often face a decision – how much milk should their children consume? Unfortunately, it is impossible to give an unequivocal answer here that would work in all cases. The amount of milk should be determined individually, depending on the appetite and condition of the newborn. What is certain is that the amount of milk should be gradually increased over time. Your baby’s growing body needs more and more food and nutrients over time.

For mothers who are breastfeeding, the amount of milk consumed by newborns increases relatively quickly in the first days of life, about one and a half teaspoons on the first day, equivalent to a volume of 7 ml. In the days that follow, this number increases. On the second day of life, the child can take a dose of 14 ml, and the next day the dose doubles to about 30 ml. On the fourth and fifth day of life, there is a dose of about 50-70 ml.

Measuring the right amount of milk is problematic when breastfeeding.

How can I make sure my baby has eaten enough food?

We can do this in several ways. First of all, you should observe the softness of the breasts during feeding and the behavior of our child. If the breast becomes soft and the baby shows no problems with sucking and swallowing, this suggests that the amount of milk he has consumed is sufficient. The stool should also be monitored – its consistency, quality and frequency of appearance. The situation is different for mothers who are breastfeeding with formula. In such a situation, the newborn should be given more of the prepared milk. To make it easier, you can use the Neno Aqua formula milk machine, which has the function of cooking and heating the water. You can buy the coffee machine at Medonet Market. Also try Neno brand bottles, which you can choose in terms of volume according to the age and needs of your child. Check:

  1. Neno Bottle 150ml,
  2. Neno Bottle 240ml for feeding and learning to drink,
  3. Neno Bottle 300ml for feeding and learning to drink.

What is formula milk?

Modified milk is a special preparation designed for children who, for various reasons, cannot be breastfed. This type of milk is specially prepared for the right amount of nutritional value. For this reason, formula milk is a safe substitute for natural milk and can be used without fear.

There are clear pros and cons to feeding your newborn baby formula milk. First of all, such milk is given in a bottle, which allows you to measure the desired amount and control the pace of consumption. Bottle feeding also allows you to transfer this responsibility to someone other than the baby’s mother. For example, feeding may be done by a partner, parents or another trusted person when the mother cannot.

In the case of bottle feeding, you will need the Neno Vita 2 in 1 sterilizer and bottle warmer, thanks to which you can efficiently remove impurities, but also warm up the meal for your baby.

The downside is that the formula stays longer in our baby’s tummy, where it digests more slowly. For this reason, formula milk should be administered less frequently or in smaller single doses. Moreover, this type of milk requires more time to prepare and administer than is the case with breastfeeding. The obvious downside is the fact that you need to obtain modified milk, as well as the equipment needed for its application, such as a bottle and teats. The price of milk varies and depends both on the producer and the number of packages purchased. Six-packs containing 800 g of the product are popular. Their price ranges from about PLN 100-200 and up. The rules for storing milk should also be followed.

Which formula should you choose?

When choosing a modified milk, one should first of all pay attention to quality considerations. Pay attention to the presence of nutrients in every available product. Good formula milk is characterized by the content of fatty acids, prebiotics and probiotics. Fatty acids contribute to the proper development of a child’s nervous system, especially the proper development of brain structures. Prebiotics and probiotics, however, affect the digestive system. The first ones improve the quality of our baby’s poop, facilitating its elimination. On the other hand, probiotics help in the absorption of ingredients and facilitate the digestive process.

The most popular brands in Poland offering modified milk include, first of all, Bebiko, Nan, Bebilon and Enfamil. All these brands enjoyed great popularity in 2017 and the passing of 2018. According to producers and market researchers of products for newborns, modified milk is not only very popular in our country, but also the trust and loyalty of consumers. This is evidenced by the fact that young mothers often declare their attachment to once selected products.
