Milk: benefits and harms

The expression “Drink, children, milk, you will be healthy” has lost its relevance today. Even if we ignore the fact that milk is not right now, scientists around the world argue about the appropriateness of its use, referring to a number of problems that it causes. So is milk deadly or vital? It is worth looking into.

Milk is a product exclusively for baby food

Milk is not digested by adults, as this product contains carbohydrates, fats and proteins at the same time. The argument itself sounds ridiculous. But the legs of this hearing grow from lactose intolerance and poor digestibility of casein, which are rich in dairy products. They are not actually absorbed by the body – neither for adults nor for children, and are fraught with serious consequences. But there are only 15 percent of such people who do not take milk. At the same time, fermented milk products can be assimilated even by them.

Milk acts as a sedative and sleep aid

Many are familiar with the milk and honey cocktail (and with cookies, of course, from Mary Poppins). In fact, milk contains the amino acids tryptophan and phenylalanine, which calm the nervous system. So nannies all over the world were right – this is a good and tasty way to calm down and sleep soundly

Skimmed milk promotes weight loss

That’s how nice it is: I drank skim milk, got my dose of calcium, protein and vitamins, and did not gain weight. However, scientists have come to a dismal conclusion for losing weight: skim milk, on the contrary, increases the likelihood of gaining excess weight. Attempts to deceive the body lead to its great resistance to weight loss and contribute to the reserves of fat “for a rainy day.”

Milk leads to calcification

Simply put, to the deposition of calcium salts in the body. Lack of calcium threatens hair loss, brittle nails and bones, tooth decay, diseases of the cardiovascular system. And here you are, hoping to avoid all these problems, lean on milk. However, excess calcium is also harmful: it cements soft tissues. Hence the woody muscles and brittle bones. This disease does not affect everyone, and even then with a huge consumption of milk.

Milk should not be drunk at retirement age

Myristic acid, which is found in milk, contributes to the accumulation of substances that cause atherosclerosis – a disease of people after 50 years. In fact, the use of milk in old age is better to be significantly limited.
