Mood changes, hormonal fluctuations, deterioration of the functioning of the whole organism – these features of middle age are mainly mentioned in the case of women. It is not true that men do not have these problems.

The first symptoms of andropause appear after the age of 50, although the decline in testosterone begins after the age of 30. These changes cannot be compared to menopause due to the fact that men do not experience a sudden loss of fertility due to age. Despite this, with the passage of years, male reproductive capabilities weaken, mainly due to the falling testosterone levels. It takes a long time for a man to completely lose his fertility, and the process is often not enjoyable.

Symptoms of andropause

Main cause of male menopause is a decrease in the hormonal capacity of the testicles, including a decrease in testosterone production. It is the most masculine of hormones, responsible for libido, mental and physical condition of a man, and general sexual performance.

Do andropause symptoms belong:

  • Changeable moods,
  • Loss of muscle mass and loss of strength
  • Decreased sexual desire, decreased libido,
  • Sleep disturbance
  • Increase in the amount of body fat,
  • Decreased bone density, which can cause osteoporosis»>osteoporosis, more likely to break bones,
  • skin changes,
  • reduction of body hair,
  • Sweating and heat attacks
  • Heart palpitations,
  • Irritability,
  • Prostate enlargement and kidney disease
  • Hair thinning.

How to deal with male menopause?

First, it’s certainly good to be aware of this process. It’s a normal thing that happens to every man. During the menopause it’s worth taking a little more care of your body. A good way is to change your lifestyle from a sedentary to a more active one – men who are not overweight, eat healthy, spend time actively, go through andropause much milder. Visits to the doctor should not be underestimated. If you are fine, you must visit him at least once every two years, check your heart, blood and prostate. When it comes to diet, it is good to avoid fried, fatty foods, do not overdo it with alcohol, give up smoking and focus on healthy eating.

If the symptoms make it difficult to function, it is worth considering hormone therapy, which consists in supplementing male hormones – including testosterone. Even a few days of using such therapy brings excellent results, however, its introduction should be consulted with an appropriate specialist.
