Midges in the kitchen: how to deal with the problem
Small flies (or “fruit flies”) are not an immediate threat to human health, but they are extremely unpleasant. They attack residents of apartment buildings and private houses. Most often, these little pests can be seen in the kitchen, because here they have something to feast on. What if there are midges in the kitchen?
Why midges appear in the kitchen
If you want to get rid of these pests once and for all, you first need to find and eliminate the cause of their appearance. Most of all, midges love garbage. An overflowing trash can, a berry rolling under the table, food leftovers in a domestic hamster’s cage are ideal baits for these insects.
They will also fly off if you don’t clean the kitchen sink drain. It forms a plaque of rot, which attracts insects.
Finally, midges can come from neighbors. Of course, residents of private houses are not threatened, but the inhabitants of high-rise buildings often suffer from this.
How to get rid of midges in the kitchen
Now that you know where these pests come from, you need to decide how to get rid of midges in the kitchen:
• to quickly catch small insects, take a jar and put the rotten fruit in it. Next, pull the film instead of the lid and make several holes in it with a needle. Moshkara will quickly flock to the jar to smell, but will not be able to get out of it;
• you can also catch midges using a conventional vacuum cleaner, “vacuuming” it the air in the kitchen. The main thing is, when you shake out insects from the dust collector, go away from home;
• small midges in the kitchen do not tolerate the smell of camphor. To take advantage of this, pour camphor into a skillet and wait for steam to appear. Remove the skillet from the heat and slowly walk around the kitchen with it. For humans, this vapor is completely harmless;
• Take any liquid with a sweet smell, such as apple cider vinegar, wine or compote, and mix it with dish soap. Place this mixture where there are most gnats. Due to the detergent, the surface tension of the water will decrease and insects will simply drown in it.
To get rid of gnats in the kitchen, you can follow any of the tips below. They are all equally effective. You can also combine the described methods of struggle.
So, in order to remove small midges in the kitchen, you need to simultaneously act in two directions: get rid of the cause of their appearance and use any of the tips described. In this case, you can forget about these pests.
