Midlife crisis — throwing and worries, personality crisis at the age of 30-40 years. The main themes are “I have not achieved anything”, the meaninglessness and monotony of life. The manifestations are varied, but all stupid, which you don’t want to remember afterwards: depression, drunkenness, computer games at night, betrayal, boredom, unmotivated conflicts, boredom and longing.
The midlife crisis is more common in men, perhaps soon women will also master it.
Like smoking. Bad habits first appear in men, after some time they are massively adopted by women.
Psychological causes of the crisis:
- The energy of the body is running out. By the age of 30-40, natural energy in men decreases. At the age of 16-20, the body requires movement: you need to study, but you want to be free, move and have adventures, but ten or twenty years pass, and the body wants to sit on a soft sofa, sit, and there is no more strength for adventures. To move forward, we need other forces — the meaning of life, spiritual aspirations, but the philosophy of consumerism does not contribute to such «nonsense». Life loses drive.
- The trailer stopped pushing, it became boring. If a person has lived for many years in the role of a Passenger, or even a Cargo, he is used to being led, driven and pushed through life: from kindergarten to school, from school to university, then to work. But by the age of 30-40, external pressure stops, everyone fell behind him, the locomotive was unhooked from his trailer. What’s left? Only the track of life and the trailer remained, in which our Passenger sees a monotonous landscape. There will be no news, and our Passenger is not used to moving himself through life. Boring and a sense of imminent dead end.
- Death is on the horizon. “If you wake up after thirty years and nothing hurts, check if you are alive?” — the lower back is disturbed, pressure rises, vision shrinks, menisci on the knees fly, baldness appears, hemorrhoids hurt, potency decreases. Previously, several sleepless nights and drinking too much were tolerated imperceptibly, now my head is splitting and there is no strength. The first friends died: accidents, heart attack, heart attack. The father died … A feeling of unreliability of the body comes, the onset of one’s own death begins to be assessed as a reality: not something that will happen “sometime in the future”, but an event with a very real time.
When a person grows up, he becomes smarter, more responsible and stronger, he sets his own goals and has his own plans. He climbs the steps of personal growth and development. When age comes to a person and new difficult circumstances for which he was not ready, he falls into throwing, experiences and crises.
The age crisis is a convenient self-justification. Typical staggering of a person who does not know how to organize himself can be conveniently called personality crises, especially since it sounds solid and serious. Psychologists support people in this self-justification. The explanation itself is psychotherapeutic: if you explain to a person that it is not he who is fooling, but that he has a natural personality crisis, this calms him down: it relieves him of guilt, removes responsibility …
