Midanium is a drug with a strong hypnotic and sedative effect in the form of an injection solution.
It is available in a dose of 1 mg / ml 10 ampoules, 5 mg / ml 10 ampoules, 5 mg / ml 5 ampoules and 50 mg / 10 ml 5 ampoules.

Midanium contains the active substance midazolam.
Action of Midanium
Midazolam is a benzodiazepine derivative and has a fast and strong hypnotic and sedative effect.
Indications for the use of Midanium
Midanium is given as a premedication prior to general anesthesia for surgery. It is also used as an induction into general anesthesia.
Midanium is also used as a sedative ingredient under general anesthesia during surgery.
Midanium is also given to patients in the ICU who need prolonged sedation, including conscious sedation during surgical or diagnostic procedures with or without local anesthesia.
Contraindications to the use of Midanium
- Midanium cannot be used in patients who are allergic to benzodiazepines.
- In patients with hepatic insufficiency, Midanium should be used very carefully.
- Midanium must not be used in the case of conscious sedation in patients with severe respiratory failure or severe respiratory depression.
- Also, Midanium should not be used in patients with severe renal impairment.
- Midanium should be used very carefully in the case of people who are addicted to alcohol or drugs.
- In pregnant patients, Midanium should only be used when absolutely necessary.
- It is not recommended for use during cesarean delivery.
- Breastfeeding women should stop breastfeeding for 24 hours after dosing.
Side effects of Midanium
Midanium can cause serious cardiovascular side effects, including cardiac arrest and respiratory arrest.
Physical dependence on this drug may develop with prolonged use of Midanium.
Confusional state, hallucinations or euphoria may occur in some cases. These side effects are especially seen in elderly patients.
Midanium may also cause nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, apnea, fatigue, thrombophlebitis, thrombosis, injection site erythema and pain, and skin reactions such as rash, hives and itching.
How to use Midanium?
Midanium is used by intravenous infusion, intramuscular injection or rectally. The dose of the drug is determined by the doctor each time.
Precautions when using Midanium
If the patient is simultaneously receiving narcotic analgesics, the dose of Midanium should be reduced. The same should also be done in patients with hepatic insufficiency.
Midanium may interact undesirable with some antifungal medications, such as ketoconazole, voriconazole, fluconazole, itraconazole, and posaconazole. It may also increase the concentration of some antibiotics in the blood plasma. Anti-tuberculosis drugs reduce the amount of intravenous midazolam (the active ingredient in Midanium).
Midanium should not be used after the expiry date stated on the package. The preparation should be stored at a temperature below 25 degrees, out of the reach of patients and out of the sight of children. The drug must not be frozen. There is no need to refrigerate Midanium.
