Miansec is a piperazine azepine tetracyclic antidepressant. Its active substance mianserin blocks presynaptic alpha-2 and postysynaptic alpha-1 adrenergic receptors, which causes increased secretion of adrenaline and serotonin. In addition, it results in an increase in appetite and a decrease in body temperature, as well as slightly antiemetic. Miansec has an anti-anxiety effect and in case of sleep problems, because it improves its quality by deepening and lengthening it. Miansec is a drug well tolerated by people with cardiovascular diseases and the elderly.
Miansec – indications
Various depressive symptoms, in which pharmacological treatment is indicated, especially with loss of appetite.
Miansec – contraindications
Miansecu do not use:
- if you are allergic to mianserin or any of the other ingredients of the drug (calcium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate, potato starch, povidone K25, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate),
- when the patient suffers from liver failure,
- if you have a manic syndrome,
- in children and adolescents under 18 years of age, unless
- with other antidepressants,
- with barbiturates, sedatives, anxiolytics and alcohol
- with certain anticonvulsants, antipyretics, analgesics, anti-inflammatory drugs,
- together with monoamine oxidase inhibitors and up to 14 days after their discontinuation,
- during breastfeeding.
Miansec – precautions
Caution in the use of the drug Miansec is required in patients:
- with cardiovascular disorders,
- blood pressure control is recommended while taking antihypertensive drugs,
- with epilepsy in combination with certain drugs,
- with hematological disorders, including bone marrow damage,
- with suicidal tendencies and patients suffering from epilepsy,
- with glaucoma,
- with prostatic hypertrophy,
- in the case of infectious diseases with fever (then blood counts should be performed).
Monitor the blood picture with regular blood counts. During treatment Mianseciem do not drive, use any tools or machines. It is a good idea to tell your loved ones about your depression or anxiety disorders, and ask them to read the leaflet that comes with the medicine. They can help monitor a patient’s condition and alert them when they notice disturbing changes in behavior. The drug may be used during pregnancy only when, in the opinion of the doctor, the benefit for the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.
Miansec – interactions with other substances
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other drugs, and about any medications you plan to take. Mianseryna may interact with the following substances:
- coumarin derivatives,
- digitalis glycosides,
- antiarrhythmic drugs,
- alcohol,
Miansec – dosage
Please adjust dosage according to the doctor’s recommendations, usually lower doses of the drug are used in the elderly. Dosage is individually determined by a doctor. The tablets should be taken orally with some liquid without chewing. Check with your pharmacist or doctor if you are unsure. In case of accepting a larger one doses prolonged sedation and somnolence as well as cardiac arrhythmias, convulsions, acute hypotension and respiratory failure may occur than recommended. In this case, immediately contact a doctor or go to the nearest hospital.
Miansec – side effects
The most common side effects are sedation and somnolence at the start of treatment. Mianseryna may cause bone marrow suppression with granulocytopenia or agranulocytosis and anemia. Phase change may occur in patients with bipolar disorder. Other side effects These are: liver dysfunction, cholestatic jaundice, gynaecomastia, galactorrhoea, dizziness, orthostatic hypotension, peripheral edema, arthralgia and arthritis, skin lesions, haemorrhagic diathesis, hypotension, edema, hyperkinesia, bradycardia, anemia, weakness, increased appetite. There may also be weight gain. Even at therapeutic doses, hypomania or seizures are an indication for discontinuation mianserins. If you are depressed or have anxiety disorders you can sometimes have thoughts of harming or killing yourself. These symptoms or behavior may worsen when starting antidepressant medications.
