Psychotherapeutic counseling is one of the types of long-term psychological assistance to people who are in the position of the Victim. Psychotherapeutic counseling is not an easy task, because it includes a reasonable orientation of the client in the situation, and raising his resource state, and working with his internal resistance.
The client came, came to his senses, cried, worried, complained, at the urgent request of the consultant, he thought about what he wants, but to form a goal — either there is not enough mind, or culture, or in the wrong state. An hour later, we figured out together what the client wants, but then every 15 minutes he needs to be reminded of this, because the client is constantly distracted and moves out just to complain … Even if there is nothing difficult and nothing needs to be treated, it is still clear what to help such a client seriously in a short and reasonable way — almost unrealistic.
Stages of psychotherapeutic counseling
The methodology of psychotherapeutic counseling usually includes such points as:
- Contact, rapport, format.
- Speak out, relax.
- Problem definition.
- Finding a solution to a problem.
- Personal psychotherapy counseling.
- Completion of the consultation.

Basic technologies of psychological counseling
All approaches of psychological counseling differ primarily in what the consultant refers to — to the client’s mind, to his logic and facts, or bypassing the mind (addressing the unconscious, influencing the client’s emotions, creating live impressions, suggestions and states). On the other hand, the consultant either knows what the client really needs, or is sure that the answer is in the client, or they are looking for the answer together. See →
Duration of work
The duration of psychotherapeutic counseling provides opportunities that are not available in short-term psychological counseling. Usually, in a few dozen meetings, when a client has a peaceful conversation with a very cultured person, a respected therapist, he sometimes even begins to think or at least acquires some useful psychological habits: listen to the interlocutor, understand himself, formulate his thoughts, see the positive. You can say — express acquisition of culture, you can say — positive brainwashing. A set of such creative, often crafty (let’s not say deceitful) methods, mixed with psychological education, constitutes the main content of psychotherapeutic counseling.
