Although formally this book does not claim the status of the academic complete works of Nikolai Zabolotsky, in fact it may well be regarded as such.
Many photographs and documents are published for the first time, and a significant part of the poems is presented in the very first editions. The collection includes not only Zabolotsky’s poems, but also his prose, memoirs, essays and letters, including letters and memoirs of the period of imprisonment and life in Karaganda. One can only admire, without exaggeration, the titanic work done by the compiler of the collection Igor Loschilov. To match his work — and the printing of «Metamorphosis». In September 2015, at the Moscow International Book Fair, the book was awarded the absolutely well-deserved «Book of the Year» award in the poetry category. It is precisely such books that Nikolai Zabolotsky himself deserves, and everyone who nowadays, who are so conducive to the harsh and aggressive prose of life, has enough time and strength to truly love poetry.
