Menu for a child under 1 year old by months: approximate, with artificial feeding
Immediately after birth, the baby is applied to the mother’s breast. In the first days, a woman produces colostrum – the baby needs it to normalize the intestines. At this time, the main thing is to establish lactation by expressing and frequent attachments. Breast milk is the only food a baby needs right now; it even replaces water. If, for some reason, feeding is impossible, the baby is given an adapted milk mixture.
Your pediatrician should help you with the choice of the mixture. Some of them can cause allergies, so if you find any manifestations, red spots on the baby’s body, consult a doctor – you may need to replace the mixture with another.
In order not to harm the health of the baby, follow the rules:
- Milk containers must always be sterilized.
- Follow the recommendations on the packaging for temperature and volume of water and the amount of dry matter – the ratio should be accurate, not approximate.
- Feeding frequency – every 3 hours or as recommended by your doctor.
In the first 3 months after birth, this is the only product that a bottle-fed baby receives.
A four-month-old artificial baby can already be introduced to a new product. Most often, pediatricians recommend choosing fruit juices for this – apple or pear, without pulp and sugar. The packaging must be marked “4+”. On the first day, 5 ml is given, the next – 10, so every day we add up to 30 ml – it will take 6 days. You cannot drink more than this norm yet.
The next step is the introduction of fruit puree. It should be hypoallergenic – made from green apples or pears. We start with 5 ml, gradually bring it to 50 ml – this is the daily rate at the age of five months. This time is also suitable for vegetable puree – zucchini, broccoli and cauliflower. We enter it one by one and gradually. You can add a few drops of vegetable oil.
At 6 months, cottage cheese appears in the child’s diet – no more than 30 g, butter, porridge. By seven, you can enter meat, yolk, baby biscuits.
At 8 months, it’s time to add kefir and yogurt to the menu, as well as some white bread. The set of vegetables is expanding – you can cook carrots, potatoes, pumpkin. Later, introduce the child to lean fish – up to 50 g no more than 2 times a week.
So far, these are all products allowed for babies up to one year old. Only their daily rate changes as the child grows. At the same time, the amount of mixture is reduced – feedings are becoming less and less, they are replaced by complementary foods.
