Having read the book to half, we were already convinced that it was boring and not worth attention. But we are so sorry for the lost time that we … read it, cursing, to the end.
Is there any logic here? After all, we wasted twice as much time as if we had abandoned the book halfway through. And all because we have become a victim of one of the many mental traps that lie in wait at every turn. We are talking about typical mistakes of thinking, because of which we waste our strength, time, energy. The reason is, writes Professor of Psychology at the University of Toronto (Canada) Andre Kukla, that we often do not realize what we are thinking. Or we are aware, but do not understand the dangers of some mental schemes. And the third option — we understand, but we continue to follow them out of habit. In his book, the psychologist describes eleven such traps. These include procrastination, trying to do two things at the same time, amplification (the tendency to put in much more effort than is necessary for the job), reversion (replaying the details of your failure in memory) … However, we can get rid of unproductive behavior if we carefully read the book to end.
