Men need to see a doctor on time

How to maintain health and not miss the harbingers of dangerous diseases, what to do in the presence of chronic ailments, what modern methods of treatment are in our city – we talked about this and many other things with the experts in the editorial office of the Telesem magazine.

It is no secret that the stronger sex does not like to see a doctor. How many middle-aged men have you seen in clinics? They are the breadwinners of the family, strong and healthy, and admitting their ailments is not in their rules. They tolerate, self-medicate, until they catch it so that they cannot do without medical help. Although, as you know, the earlier treatment is started, the more hope for recovery. Meanwhile, the pace of life, stress, bad habits that are detrimental to health, have made diseases of the cardiovascular system the most common. Therefore, our first question is addressed to a cardiologist, head of the therapeutic department of the State Budgetary Healthcare Institution “Research Institute – KKB No. 1 named after Professor S.V. Ochapovsky ” Tatiana Ivanovna Matyushina.

– What age is a critical age for men in terms of health?

– It is believed that after 40 years, both men and women should be more careful about their health, because the risk of diseases increases. But you need to contact a therapist or cardiologist when there are complaints about a deterioration in well-being: blood pressure rises, pains appear, and other uncharacteristic manifestations of ill health. At risk are people with excess weight, bad habits, with hereditary and chronic diseases. By the way, the genetic component means a lot. Now many experts are inclined to believe that genetic analysis facilitates the treatment of a patient: someone has a predisposition to a specific disease, and then serious prevention is needed, and someone can simply be observed by a doctor.

In any case, you need to control blood pressure, monitor cholesterol levels, blood sugar levels. For example, in chronic hypertension, drugs are prescribed for a long period. Medicines have a cumulative effect to keep blood pressure under control. In men, the first manifestations of cardiovascular disease often begin with sexual dysfunction due to atherosclerosis. But the patient, not knowing about it, at best goes to an appointment with a urologist, instead of getting a consultation with a cardiologist.

I repeat once again: in case of any doubts, ailments, you need to contact a specialist. Now at polyclinics, so-called screenings (quick examination) are carried out. In our therapeutic department of the Research Institute – KKB No. 1 you can get qualified help, undergo diagnostics and, if necessary, medical examination on a paid basis without queues and referrals. Diagnostic and treatment services are carried out in such areas as cardiology, neurology, gastroenterology, etc. We use the most modern diagnostic methods, laboratory, ultrasound and X-ray examinations, computed and magnetic resonance imaging, endoscopic examination.

Men’s health is always a taboo topic, which is why there are so many false statements and conjectures around this, and that is why there are so many patients suffering from “male” diseases. Meanwhile, there are more and more patients with diseases of the male reproductive system, including cancer. What you need to know about the “disease of the century” prostatitis, oncological issues of current concern for men, says the oncologist surgeon of the European Clinic Anton Vladimovich Ulkin

– According to WHO, unfavorable factors in the development of oncological diseases are well known to us: chemical carcinogens, viral diseases, physical inactivity, excess weight, alcoholism and smoking, ultraviolet radiation, heredity, etc. Controlling the influence of these factors on your body, timely access to a doctor, treatment of chronic diseases – this is the main thing that needs to be done to eliminate negative consequences, to significantly reduce the risk of contracting cancer.

As for prostatitis (inflammation of the tissue of the prostate gland), one of the most common diseases in men between the ages of 30 and 60, it can be acute and chronic. An important feature is that poorly treated acute prostatitis can turn into chronic, and haunt a man all his life, periodically reminding himself of himself.

At a younger age, inflammation often occurs after an infectious infection – it is very important to maintain a clean sex life. Hypothermia and hormonal disorders are also relevant. In adulthood and old age, the causes of prostatitis are different – it is immunity disorders, vascular diseases, deterioration of pelvic circulation (a problem for all office workers). Therefore, if you experience pain during urination, discomfort in the lower abdomen, groin and lower back, you should immediately consult a doctor.

Prostate cancer is the scourge of all men who have lived to a considerable age, because the older the man, the higher his risk of meeting this disease. For control, it is enough to take a blood test for PSA, and show it to a urologist to understand whether you need to worry. Relevance – from 45-50 years old.

Currently, two methods are used for radical treatment of prostate cancer: surgery and radiation therapy, which have comparable efficacy. As the newest branch of radiation therapy, proton therapy shows good results when we need a “backup” method of treatment after previous classical radiation therapy.

All these methods are radical and have a certain risk of complications, therefore, the treatment is selected by the attending physician together with the patient after evaluating all the pros and cons. If radical treatment is impossible, then, especially with prostate cancer, it is more important than ever not to give up, because taking into account modern types of drugs, accumulated knowledge, a treatment strategy correctly selected by an oncologist allows the patient to forget about his diagnosis and live a long life. and a fulfilling life.

In Krasnodar – world-class medicine

There is a high demand for quality cancer care in the Kuban. Many residents of the region go to Moscow and even abroad for treatment, choosing leading specialized medical centers. No exception – and European clinic, a private oncological center, which annually in Moscow receives more than 5500 of even the most severe patients.

Due to the steadily growing flow of patients from the Krasnodar Territory European clinic in March 2020, it opens its first branch in Krasnodar. With the opening of this clinic, the residents of the Kuban will have access to diagnostics and treatment of oncological diseases at the level of world standards. Without leaving the region, at the place of residence it will be possible to receive services such as:

  • consultations of experienced oncologists, oncomammologists, oncodermatologists, gynecological oncologists, oncourologists, oncologists-surgeons, chemotherapists, as well as specialists of related specialties in the areas of cardio-oncology and therapy

  • second opinion and consultations with the participation of leading specialists from Moscow and foreign cancer centers in the telemedicine format

  • expert diagnostics of oncological diseases, various cancer screening programs

  • chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy with original drugs in accordance with the latest versions of international protocols

  • molecular genetic research in foreign laboratories.

 – The clinic has installed the latest equipment for diagnosing skin pathologies – an innovative video dermatoscope of the German company FotoFinder, – continues Anton Vadimovich, – it allows you to examine the entire skin surface with maximum accuracy and detect the smallest changes. Based on the results of video dermatoscopy, a “mole map” is created, which allows monitoring the condition of the skin in dynamics, and taking timely measures if necessary. The advantages of this method are aimed at early detection and elimination of skin cancers at the stage when recovery can be achieved by simple removal of the neoplasm. For the Kuban, with its sunny climate and a high risk of developing melanoma (skin cancer), this is extremely important.

It is known that in state clinics the doctor’s time to see a patient is strictly regulated, but cancer patients are a special category of people, more vulnerable, in a serious psychological state, and the doctor’s attention is very important for them. Patient in European clinic given as much time as it takes. Time for cancer is the most important resource, and we try to minimize the time from the patient’s visit to the start of treatment.

В European clinic in Krasnodar, surgical interventions are also carried out, which can be carried out in an outpatient oncological center. If necessary, inpatient treatment, the patient is transported to the European clinic in Moscow.

Regular preventive and diagnostic measures carried out in the Kuban under the leadership of the regional health ministry have proven their effectiveness: they contribute to the early detection of oncopathology and motivate residents to seek timely medical care.

In February, two large-scale events took place in the Krasnodar Territory at once – the Open Day for the early diagnosis of cancer, timed to coincide with the World Cancer Day, and the “Men’s Health Week”, and the “Women’s Health Week” will take place from March 2 to March 6. In all polyclinics of the Kuban, specialists will conduct examinations of the skin, thyroid gland, mucous membranes, lymph nodes, mammary glands and cervix.

At what age should be examined, what new diagnostic methods have appeared and what to do if someone close to them has a malignant tumor, says the deputy chief physician of the State Budgetary Healthcare Institution “Clinical Oncological Dispensary No. 1” Maxim Yurievich Mostovoy.

– Largely thanks to diagnostic and educational work, now we can observe a decrease in the number of advanced cancers, when it is difficult to provide effective medical care. I would like to note that more than 16% in the structure of oncological diseases in the region is skin cancer. This is primarily the result of the activity of the southern sun and ultraviolet radiation. In women with oncological pathology, a large percentage of diseases are caused by breast cancer, in men – by lung and prostate cancer.

The insidiousness of the disease is that in the early stages the patient does not notice it, the cancer is asymptomatic. But it is the first two stages of oncology that give a favorable prognosis for recovery. Early diagnosis today is the main tool in the fight against the disease. Therefore, numerous screenings are carried out, visits of oncologists to remote settlements, examination rooms are working – everything for how to diagnose precancerous diseases and malignant neoplasms.

Men are recommended to undergo a preventive examination every year after 50 years. This can be done at district clinics on any weekday. In the examination room, the health worker pays attention to the condition of the skin, mucous membranes, lymph nodes, prostate gland and rectum. In 2019, about 27 thousand cases of malignant tumors of all localizations were diagnosed for the first time in the Krasnodar Territory. About a third of the identified diseases were diagnosed in the course of preventive actions, medical examination, in the examination rooms of polyclinics at the place of residence.
