It’s no secret that melons make the best liqueurs and liqueurs, but if you like stronger or less sweet drinks, feel free to experiment with tinctures.
They also make melons: liqueurs and liqueurs, syrup
Simple melon tincture
As an alcoholic base for this tincture, you can use most basic strong drinks: good vodka, ordinary brandy or cognac, light rum, as well as perfectly purified double-distilled moonshine or grain alcohol diluted with water up to 45 degrees. At the same time, the strength of the tincture can be easily adjusted by adding more alcohol or, in the case of alcohol and moonshine, reducing the amount of the water component.
Ingredients
Ripe melon – 2 kg
Alcohol – 1 liters
Sugar (optional) – 200-300 g
Lemon fresh (optional) – 15 ml
Ground ginger (optional) – 5 g
Ground cinnamon (optional) – 5 g
Vanilla (optional) – 3-5 g
Method of preparation
Wash the fruit, cut it into halves, remove the seeds, remove the peel and cut the pulp into cubes up to two cm in size.
Put the melon in a jar, add the desired spices and lemon juice (if you use brandy as alcohol, ginger is not recommended), then pour everything with alcohol so that it covers the pulp by at least 4 cm.
Leave a tightly closed jar for 2 weeks in a dark room at room temperature, shaking it well every 4-5 days.
Filter the liquid, gently squeeze the pulp into it, add sugar if necessary, mix thoroughly, pour into bottles and seal them tightly.
Keep the drink in a dark, cool place for about a week.
Store in cellar or refrigerator. Before serving, it is recommended to decant the tincture.
Melon tincture with cardamom
A very interesting option. We recommend trying.
Ingredients
Ripe melon – 2 kg
Pure food alcohol – 500 ml
Drinking non-carbonated water – 400-500 ml
Cardamom – 5-6 pcs.
Method of preparation
Prepare cardamom broth: boil water with cardamom and hold for five minutes over low heat.
Cool the resulting infusion to room temperature, strain and pour alcohol into it.
Then follow the previous recipe, starting from the very first step.
Tincture inside the melon
As a rule, in this case it is recommended to use vodka, but we will allow ourselves to be irreconcilably categorical: brandy and only brandy!
Ingredients
Ripe sweet melon – 2,5-3 kg
Ordinary brandy or cognac – 500 ml
Method of preparation
Wash the melon and carefully cut off the top of it.
Thoroughly clean the seeds.
Pour alcohol inside (if there is not enough space, you can either leave everything as it is or remove some pulp).
Return the cut crown to its place and wrap the fruit tightly with food grade polyethylene.
Place the melon prepared in this way or hang it upside down in a cool, dark room.
After 16 hours, carefully unswrap the cognac berry, pour the tincture into a decanter, and cut the fruit into slices and serve as a snack.
