Medikinet is a medicine used as part of the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children over six years of age when other trials and measures have failed. The goal of this drug is to stabilize a child’s behavior if he or she is completely unable to concentrate for a longer period, emotionally unstable, impulsive, and has neurological symptoms and EEG irregularities. This drug is prescribed by a doctor after an in-depth analysis of the child’s condition in relation to his age.
Medikinet is a valid prescription-only medicine and comes in tablets of 5, 10 and 20 mg. The price of a package of 30 tablets is approx. 16, approx. 30 and approx. 55 PLN, respectively. The tablets differ in appearance by the letter embossed on them; the five milligram tablets are marked S, the ten milligram tablets are M and the twenty milligram tablets are L. The tablets can be divided into equal halves. Active substance Medikinetu jest methylphenidate hydrochloride; this compound is an inhibitor of dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake. It is used to treat not only ADHD, but also narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia. In addition, it is used when introducing anesthesia. The excipient contained in Medikinecie is lactose.
Medikinet dosage
Dosage each drug should be adapted to the individual needs of the patient and determined by the physician; mostly feeding Medikinetu it starts small doses gradually increasing depending on the patient’s tolerability, effectiveness and side effects. The first is recommended dose 5 mg per day once or twice a day; over time, it is increased weekly by 5-10 mg daily, if needed. Final dose should be taken at least 4 hours before bedtime, as later application may cause sleep problems. Maximal dose The daily amount of methylphenidate hydrochloride is 60 mg.
Medikinet It should not be taken by children under 6 years of age, adults and the elderly as the safety and effectiveness of this medicine have not been established for these age groups. Treatment in children over 6 years of age Medikinetem it should not be indefinite or last more than 12 months without a break – for such cases, the safety and effectiveness of the preparation have not been determined either.
Medikinet – contraindications
There are numerous contraindications for the application of the preparation Medikinet. They include, among others hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of the excipients, glaucoma, phaeochromocytoma, hyperthyroidism, ongoing cardiovascular or cerebrovascular disorders, brain aneurysm, ongoing or past depression, anorexia, suicidal tendencies, mania, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Side effects application Medikinetu include nasopharyngitis, leukopenia, anemia, thrombocytopenic purpura, anaphylactic reactions, rash, pruritus, anorexia, insomnia, nervousness, mood swings, anxiety, hypertension, cough, and sore throat and larynx.
