Start COVID-19 vaccine Frequently asked questions Where can I get vaccinated? Check if you can get vaccinated

The guest of Tomasz Sekielski in the “Onet Rano” program was Łukasz Jankowski, president of the District Medical Council in Warsaw. He assessed the idea of introducing compulsory vaccination against COVID-19 in certain professional groups. “As for the medical staff, it would be useful,” he said.

Compulsory vaccinations for doctors and nurses

Łukasz Jankowski, president of the District Medical Council in Warsaw, was a guest at “Onet Rano.”. Tomasz Sekielski, the program leader, asked him what he thought about the idea of the Medical Council at the Prime Minister to introduce compulsory vaccinations against coronavirus for certain professional groups, including among the medical staff.

According to data obtained by Medonet from the Ministry of Health, 90,67 percent are fully vaccinated. doctors and doctors and 80,78 percent nurses and nurses.

– I admit that I have mixed feelings, but when I think about the fact that a doctor, a nurse, while working with patients can transmit the virus by himself – without being vaccinated – I think that in our professional group, compulsory vaccinations would be useful. Yes, it’s a good idea – said Jankowski.

  1. Where are we in the epidemic? Dr. Afelt warns: the situation is gaining momentum

– Because we do not vaccinate only for ourselves, but for people in our environment, and in our environment, patients are directly exposed. I think that we would have to carefully select those groups in which we would make such vaccinations obligatory, but when it comes to medical personnel, consent would be useful – added the nephrologist.

The fourth wave is ahead of us, we need to vaccinate

– I would like everyone to be vaccinated, no matter where they work. We have not yet achieved population resistance, it is counted differently for different viruses, and in the case of coronavirus, also for different variants. At the beginning, it was talked about 60 percent. The Alpha variant came and it was said about 70 percent. With the Delta variant, which is insanely contagious, it is already said to be 90 percent. – emphasized Łukasz Jankowski.

– In order to eliminate this coronavirus from our environment, cocoon those people who, for some reasons, e.g. medical reasons, cannot get vaccinated – added Jankowski.

  1. Is a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine necessary? Explains the virologist

– For me, the whole story with vaccinations reminds me of the situation when I talk to patients, when all the weather forecasts say that it will rain tomorrow and we say “please take an umbrella” and the person says “well, maybe it won’t rain”. And today it is the same: maybe there will not be a fourth wave, because now there are very few infections, there is no coronavirus. We predict that the fourth wave may be. If it can rain, it is rational for us to take an umbrella. If it can be enough to the fourth wave and we can somehow protect ourselves and others, let’s take this umbrella and get vaccinated – said the president of the District Medical Council in Warsaw.
