Mechanical peeling

It is possible to restore radiance and even tone to the skin. Even ordinary mechanical peeling gives brilliant results. In this article, we will talk about the benefits of this procedure.

What is mechanical peeling

To understand what mechanical peeling is, let’s remember the English language. The English verb to peel in translation means “remove the skin, peel.” Through forced exfoliation, dead particles are removed from the surface of the skin, which makes way for new cells. Without it, the skin would look dull, uneven and tired. The benefits of peeling cannot be overestimated.

This procedure:

  • evens out skin tone and texture;

  • makes the skin radiant, improves complexion;

  • cleans pores.

Mechanism of action

Mechanical peeling can be done both in the salon and at home. In clinics, hardware methods using microparticles for grinding have proven themselves well.

For home use, most often used:

  • scrubs;

  • peeling creams;

  • serum peels;

  • exfoliating creams.

The goal of both home and salon methods comes down to one thing – to mechanically cleanse the top layer of the skin from dead cells with the help of exfoliating particles.

When to apply

Mechanical peeling is a regular procedure for everyone who wants the skin to remain young, beautiful and elastic for as long as possible. Peeling is usually performed for the following problems:

  • wrinkles;

  • expanded pores;

  • pigmented areas;

  • acne marks;

  • loss of skin elasticity;

  • dull color.

Efficiency

The effect will be visible with regular use of the procedure. At the same time, home peeling with scrubs is carried out no more than 1-2 times a week. In a beauty salon or clinic – once a month, but your cosmetologist will tell you more precisely.

Varieties of mechanical peeling

Types of mechanical peeling differ in the method and depth of exfoliation.

Scrub

A scrub is a cream or gel with exfoliating particles in the composition. The hardness and size of the particles determine the “strength” of the scrub. The most commonly used are aluminum oxide (aka corundum; such scrubs are the most powerful, but also quite aggressive), crushed apricot pits, salt or sugar, as well as polymer microgranules (this is the softest and most gentle version).

Gommage

A softer version of the scrub, devoid of abrasive particles. The composition is applied to dry skin, the resulting film “glues” dead cells, after which it is rolled off the face. This exfoliation method is suitable even for problematic skin.

Brossage or brushing of the face

A professional procedure is performed using a special apparatus with a rotating nozzle / brush. Provides a superficial peeling effect, suitable for those who cannot tolerate acids.

After peeling, the skin must be well protected from ultraviolet radiation.

Film masks

A relatively new method of exfoliation. The adhesive film simply sticks to the stratum corneum of the epidermis and, when torn off, takes the upper dead cells with it. The method is simple and quite gentle, but it has its own characteristics, carefully read the instructions.

Microdermabrasion

Purely professional method. With the help of a special apparatus, a finely dispersed abrasive (the same corundum, crushed apricot kernels, polymers, salt, soda, magnesium oxide or sand) is sprayed onto the skin, which literally “squeezes” the epidermis, providing different peeling depths. With a sufficiently powerful flow, the procedure allows you to remove even pronounced traces of post-acne and stretch marks, and with a moderate flow, only the upper layers of the epidermis, which ensures a short rehabilitation.

Mechanical peeling is carried out in different ways. Which one is right for you, the doctor decides after a visual examination and a survey: you have to remember which ingredients you have a negative reaction to.

According to the method and depth of exposure, mechanical peeling, like any other (chemical, acid), is divided into several types.

Surface

During superficial peeling, the topmost layer of the epidermis is damaged. Abrasive particles gently cleanse the skin without injuring it. Home remedies in the form of scrubs and peels provide exactly superficial peeling. Immediately after cleansing, the skin looks refreshed, bright and supple.

Median

For median peeling, you will have to come to a beauty salon or clinic. Usually it is carried out on special equipment. The active ingredients in the composition of products for such peeling are the smallest crystals of soda, sodium chloride, magnesium oxide. They affect the middle layers of the skin. The effect of such a procedure is clearly visible after a course of 5-7 sessions.

If there is irritation or inflammation on the skin, you will first have to treat it and only then proceed to polishing.

Deep

This type of peeling is considered the most traumatic. It is carried out only in the clinic, since it affects the deeper layers of the skin. Requires a long rehabilitation.

Mechanical peeling technique

  • Before you start exfoliating at home, thoroughly cleanse your face of makeup with a micellar solution or a special lotion.

  • Rinse off the rest of makeup and dirt with a gel, mousse or foam. To open the pores well, apply a hot, damp towel to your face for a few minutes.

  • Apply the exfoliator to your face.

  • Gently massage exfoliator into skin in circular motions, avoiding the eye area. Wait about 5-7 minutes.

  • Rinse gently with warm water.

  • Treat the skin with a toner to hydrate the skin and restore its pH balance.

  • Apply a moisturizing or nourishing cream or balm.

Advantages

After peeling, the face looks younger.

Every year the cell renewal cycle increases. For example, at the age of 20 it is 28 days, and by adulthood it almost doubles. Dead cells, accumulating layer by layer, inhibit all processes associated with renewal. The skin does not look at all as we would like, it becomes uneven, dull, gray. Peeling helps the epidermis to get rid of an unnecessary layer of cells. As a result, the face looks younger and fresher.

Care tips after the procedure

For peeling, evening hours are preferable. During the night, the skin will calm down, and it does not need direct sunlight immediately after the procedure. But if you’ve already exfoliated in the morning, make sure your face is protected with a high SPF sunscreen.

  • Moisturize your skin.

  • Apply a maximum SPF to prevent unwanted pigmentation.

  • Try not to sunbathe on the day of peeling.

  • You should not visit the sauna and especially the solarium.

  • Avoid strenuous exercise.

Cream for face and skin around the eyes Anthelios Ultra, SPF 30, La Roche-Posay perfectly moisturizes the skin and protects it from ultraviolet radiation thanks to the proprietary Mexoplex complex.
