Who controls whom or what – are we emotions or emotions are us? The answer is not as clear cut as it might seem at first glance. How do the people around us cope with the feelings that overwhelm them? What happens when emotions get out of control? The answers are in our traditional selection of series.
“Big Little Lies”
Three women. Three types of behavior. Three ways to experience and express your feelings. They live in a California paradise – puppet-glamorous Monterey. From the terraces of their houses, they watch the sunset over the ocean. Their children go to the first grade of a very good elementary school. Their life is very much like a fairy tale. In addition, they are friends and trust each other. Almost. Almost all. Even in such close and seemingly sincere relations of the heroines there is a treacherous “almost”.
Because the social activist Madeleine, the intellectual Celeste, and the modest Jane are only almost frank in private. Each of the girlfriends refuses to realize their feelings completely. The impulsive extrovert Madeleine does not admit to herself that she is not satisfied with her radiant, problem-free existence. Restrained Celeste does not reveal the truth about problems in the family even to a psychotherapist, she is not ready to accept that the reason for the dramatic relationship with her husband, this love-hate between violence and affection, is in herself. Jane never recovered from the psychological trauma experienced and refuses to realize that she is looking not for a cure, but for revenge …
Different paths lead to one point, seemingly random, but fatal event. And one unpleasant incident in elementary school shows that children are the main victims of our killed emotions. And that they need us healthy and truthful.
“Anger Management”
The name of the series is based on the specialization of the psychotherapist Charlie Goodson, whose career as a baseball player ended ingloriously precisely because of anger. Now he helps his clients deal with it. However, Goodson’s main patient is still himself.
Fargo
By and large, this is an encyclopedia of incidents that happened due to the fact that the heroes stopped curbing their feelings and began to act in accordance with them. It’s certainly not horror. But horror, horror, horror.
