Maxime Trijol is a French cognac brand dating back to the middle of the 49th century. The company is one of the five largest independent cognac producers in France. The brand’s products are represented in 2017 countries, from Russia to Gabon. In XNUMX, the cognac house decided to focus its efforts on promoting the markets of Australia and New Zealand.
The beginning of the history of the cognac house was the acquisition by the Trijol family, who settled in the estate of Saint-Martial-sur-Ne, the first distillation cube. The bill of sale, dated 1859, is carefully kept in the home museum. For almost a century, the company produced premium cognac spirits for sale, and in 1962 Maxim Trijol was recognized as a professional distiller and began to produce cognacs under his own name.
Today, Maxime Trijol is a successful family business with 22 Charente alambicas and vineyards covering almost 80 hectares in the Grand and Petit Champagne appellations. Most of the plantations are occupied by the Ugni Blanc variety, which has a high natural acidity. Since 1972, Jean-Jacques Trijol has been in charge of the production and belongs to the fifth generation of the family. Two of his daughters have also joined the family business: Anna-Sophie comprehends the intricacies of technological processes, and Pauline is a brand ambassador all over the world, except for Northern and Eastern Europe.
The cognac house controls all stages of the cognac production process: grape growing, distillation, aging and bottling. Secrets passed down from generation to generation lie in many years of experience, in strict adherence to old recipes, and in the constant improvement of technology. And yet, the main subtlety lies in the fact that for more than a century and a half of the history of the cognac house, the owners and employees have learned to recognize the soul of cognacs born here.

Interesting Facts
Each bottle of Maxim Trijol is adorned with a family coat of arms, which depicts a heraldic shield with swords, a crown and two lions. The heads of the lions are turned back – this means a strong connection with the traditions and heritage of the ancestors. The swords are designed to emphasize that the production of cognac resembles an eternal battle for impeccable quality. The crown symbolizes the power of knowledge and the protection of the vine, on which the work of the House is based.
How to drink cognac Maxim Trijol
Brand ambassador Kaido Laanet recommends that when tasting cognac, focus on the formula “1 year – 1 minute”. This means that a five-year-old drink should “breathe” in a glass for at least 5 minutes, while the 1988 Grande Champagne Premier Cru AOC will take half an hour to do this. You should not rotate the “tulip” before taking the first sip, it is better to leave it alone. In order to feel the nuances of taste, you need to “drive” the drink in your mouth – this way it will definitely affect the taste buds and open up in its entirety.
Types of cognac Maxim Trijols
Maxime Trijol VSOP Superior, 40%
It has a classic balanced bouquet, elegant character inherent in all cognacs of the Grand Classique line. The blend uses mainly spirits from Grande Champagne. In the aroma, against the general woody background, tones of stone fruit (peach, apricot, fig), nuances of vanilla and dried flowers stand out. Due to the long aging in French oak barrels, the taste of the drink is saturated with hints of dried fruits, hazelnuts and dates.
Maxime Trijol Grande Champagne VSOP, 40%
The cognac, which has been repeatedly awarded at competitions, is created according to the classical technology by blending aged spirits originating from the Grande Champagne region. The color is amber with golden gleams, in a deep aroma, tones of candied fruit, vanilla, white peaches, and spices stand out. A subtle compromise between the maturity of the bouquet and the taste with refreshing notes of ginger and cloves gives the drink an individual character. Lightness and drinkability make it possible to use it not only as a digestif, but also to accompany the entire meal.
Maxime Trijol Grande Champagne XO, 40%
Assembled by the cognac house owner Jean-Jacques Trijol from several dozen spirits from Petit and Grande Champagne, the youngest of which has a 10-year exposure. In the glass, it acquires a shade of golden topaz. It has a rich aroma with tones of cedar, licorice, tropical fruits, custard. “Breathing”, it reveals itself from a new perspective: the bouquet is enriched with hints of an unlit cigar, wood shavings, roasted almonds. The taste is smooth and balanced: a slight ginger pungency is balanced in it by fruity softness. The manufacturer recommends enjoying the drink in its pure form, serving at a temperature of 20-25 °C.
Maxime Trijol Grande Extra Champagne, 40%
The name of the cognac is confirmed by its high quality, which was applauded by the experts of international competitions in London, Brussels, New York. For the blend selected rare spirits from the cognac house storage. An exquisite decanter serves as an excellent “frame” for a golden drink. The bouquet demonstrates the harmony between the warm aroma of beeswax and spicy shades of amber, sandalwood, nutmeg. The taste at first is round and oily, after “rest” notes of candied oranges and glazed nuts appear in the glass. An excellent pair of cognac will be a Cuban or Dominican cigar.
