MaxFlu with lemon flavor – indications, dosage, contraindications, side effects

MaxFlu with lemon flavor is used for the short-term treatment of cold, flu and flu-like symptoms. It is a combined preparation with analgesic, antipyretic and vasoconstrictive properties. Do not give the preparation to children under 12 years of age. The drug is in the form of effervescent tablets and is dispensed without a prescription.

MaxFlu with lemon flavor – indications for use

MaxFlu with lemon flavor are effervescent tablets recommended for short-term treatment:

  1. colds,
  2. flu
  3. flu-like conditions.

Dosage of the preparation

MaxFlu with lemon flavor is in the form of effervescent tablets intended for oral administration. Dissolve the drug in a glass of water and drink it before or during a meal.

  1. Adults and children after 12 years of age 1-2 tablets every 4-6 h up to 4 × / day; dose max. 8 tablets / day

MaxFlu with lemon flavor and contraindications

There are the following contraindications for taking MaxFlu lemon flavored:

  1. allergy to any ingredient of the preparation,
  2. severely impaired liver or kidney function,
  3. hypertension,
  4. use of MAO inhibitors in parallel or within the last 14 days.

MaxFlu with lemon flavor and contraindications

  1. Do not take the preparation for more than 3 days without consulting a doctor in the case of persistent fever and for longer than 7 days in the case of a cold or flu.
  2. Do not give the drug to children under 12 years of age.
  3. Check if any other medicines you are taking contain paracetamol to avoid overdosing.
  4. Due to the risk of liver damage, do not take higher doses than recommended. The risk of liver damage occurs especially in people who regularly drink alcohol and are fasted.
  5. Particular caution should be exercised in people who consume alcohol and with impaired liver and / or kidney function. They should see a doctor before taking the medicine.
  6. It is forbidden to take alcohol during treatment with the drug.
  7. It should be used with caution in patients with controlled or mild hypertension, with peripheral vascular disease, glaucoma, hyperthyroidism, prostatic hyperplasia and in diabetics due to the presence of pseudoephedrine in the drug.
  8. Patients with hyperoxaluria (excessive excretion of oxalic acid in the urine) or kidney stones, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, haemochromatosis, thalassemia and sideroblastic anemia should be treated with caution with regard to the content of ascorbic acid.
  9. The sodium benzoate contained in the preparation may cause allergic reactions.
  10. The drug may be harmful in people with nyphenylketonuria (contains a source of phenylalanine and may be harmful) and in people with fructose intolerance (contains sorbitol).
  11. Pregnant women should consult a doctor before taking the drug,
  12. Women who are breastfeeding should not take MaxFlu lemon flavored,
  13. People driving motor vehicles should be careful because the drug may cause dizziness, which impairs psychophysical fitness. Patients with this symptom should not drive or use vehicles or other devices.

MaxFlu with lemon flavor with other drugs

  1. The paracetamol contained in the drug enhances the effect of coumarin derivative anticoagulants.
  2. Salicylamide increases the elimination time of paracetamol.
  3. Do not take MaxFlu with MAO inhibitors at the same time, or within 14 days of stopping treatment with these preparations, due to the possibility of agitation and high fever.
  4. The use of drugs that increase hepatic metabolism, such as rifampicin, antiepileptic drugs, sleeping pills (barbiturates) or the consumption of alcohol can cause toxic damage to the liver, even when using the recommended doses of paracetamol.
  5. The use of paracetamol and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs increases the risk of renal dysfunction.
  6. Phenytoin may reduce the effectiveness of paracetamol and increase the risk of liver toxicity.
  7. Probenecid reduces the excretion of paracetamol.
  8. Take caution when administering isoniazid or zidovudine.
  9. The use of paracetamol may affect the results of laboratory tests, for example, the determination of blood glucose or uric acid levels.
  10. The content of pseudoephedrine in the drug may reduce the effectiveness of some drugs that lower blood pressure (bretylium, betanidine, guanethidine, methyldopa, alpha and beta-adrenergic blockers), reduce the effectiveness of nitrates.
  11. Use with cardiac glycosides may cause cardiac arrhythmias.
  12. Other nasal decongestants, tricyclic antidepressants, ergot alkaloids and amphetamine-like psychostimulants may increase blood pressure.
  13. Ascrobic acid used with iron supplements and with estrogens can increase the concentration of these drugs in the body.
  14. Ascorbic acid may interfere with certain laboratory tests (determination of urine glucose, plasma ethyl estradiol, bilirubin, iron and ferritin, urine uric acid and oxalate, liver enzymes, plasma lactate dehydrogenase, false negative blood tests) fecal latent).
  15. Other over-the-counter medicines used to treat cough, cold, allergy, appetite suppression, pain relief or to help you sleep may also contain acetaminophen and pseudoephedrine; they should not be taken simultaneously due to the risk of overdosing with paracetamol or pseudoephedrine.
