Mattress stains: how to remove? Video

Cleaning a dirty mattress is not an easy task. It will not go into the washing machine, and it is not so easy to deliver it to dry cleaning. It remains to find a way to remove stains at home. And there are many of them.

Before starting to clean the mattress, it is necessary to get rid of the dust accumulated on its surface and in the depths of the seams. The easiest way to do this is using the most ordinary vacuum cleaner. After that, you should examine the existing spots for their origin. If the cause cannot be determined, you will have to act at random and apply a universal cleanser. It can be played by a regular dishwashing detergent diluted with water in a ratio of 1:10. Simply apply the resulting solution to the stain, leave to act for 10-15 minutes, and gently blot with an absorbent towel. In most cases, the stain will fade considerably if it does not disappear altogether.

Do not rub the stain in any way, this will only contribute to an even deeper penetration of dirt inside.

Both fresh and old blood stains from the mattress are easiest to remove with hydrogen peroxide. Apply a solution of peroxide to the dirt, a chemical reaction will immediately begin, accompanied by the release of hydrogen. Remove any foam that appears with a dry white cloth. Repeat the procedure until the stain completely turns white. Rinse off the remaining dirt with cold water, blot with a dry towel.

Blood cannot be washed off with hot water, it will coagulate from high-temperature exposure, and it will be much more difficult to remove the stain.

If the mattress has been in a damp room for a long time, mold stains may appear on it. Their removal should begin with simple ventilation in the sun. Dried mold will need to be wiped off and the mattress itself vacuumed to remove mold spores that have already penetrated inside it. Dilute isopropyl alcohol with warm water in a 1: 1 ratio, wash off the stains with the resulting solution.

Put on a special cover on the mattress, which in case of a stain can be simply removed and washed in the washing machine

Removing drink stains

Spilled drinks can also stain the mattress. The more intense the color of the drink, the more effort will have to be made to remove them. The easiest way to do this is to apply a solution of a vinegar or citric acid cleaner to the stain and rinse off with clean water. In some cases, alcohol can be very helpful. It will be enough just to wipe the stain with a sponge soaked in alcohol or vodka. If all efforts were unsuccessful, you should try to contact the manufacturer or seller of the mattress and ask if he can advise on cleaning the product purchased from them.
