How to sew a frill with bow folds

A bow frill can be made from the same fabric as the garment itself. It is suitable for both classic and more modern items. For example, you can use it to decorate a shirt worn under jeans or a casual dress.

Frill can be sewn from any fabric

To sew a collar you will need:

  • a piece of fabric three times larger than the final product should be;
  • thread;
  • needle and pins;
  • braid or ribbon of the same size as the future frill;
  • decor to choose from.

The width of the cut can be arbitrary, according to your wishes.

Sweep the fabric blank on all sides and start making a frill. To do this, collect the cut in bow folds of 1,5–2 cm and fix them with pins. Then sew the middle of the product by hand or sew on a typewriter. On the front side, hide the seam behind a piece of tape or tape that can be sewn on or glued on with silicone glue. Decorate the product if desired.

Lace frill is more suitable for classic clothes. There are several ways to do it.

First:

  • cut a rectangle out of any fabric;
  • round its bottom;
  • take lace in the form of a ribbon;
  • fasten it around the perimeter of the fabric, moving in a circle;
  • start at the top of one side, end at the top of the other;
  • fill in the entire segment in this way.

This frill can be attached to a tape, elastic band, or sewn to clothing.

For the second method, you will need 3 isosceles triangles of different sizes, lace in a ribbon and a thread with a needle. You can decorate the accessory with a brooch or a bow. Sew the edges of the triangles with lace and fasten them one on top of the other, starting with the larger one, with the vertices towards the neck. Sew the decor at the bonding point.

The third type of collar is made from a piece of lace and a ribbon that is half the length. Also prepare the threads with a needle, you need to sew the accessory manually. Place the ribbon under the lace and start gathering it into pleats of any size. Secure them with pins and then sew with thread. Such a frill can also be decorated with a brooch or stone.

Now you know how to sew a frill collar. However, there are other ways, and by showing imagination and spending 1-3 hours, you yourself can come up with something new.
