Masks are applied by hand or with a brush. The main thing is that both are clean. Usually the lip area and eye contour are not affected, but there are exceptions. If the texture and density of the mask allow, apply it in a dense layer.

Which mask to choose: homemade or purchased

HomemadePurchased

composition

The composition of homemade masks is quite limited, but you decide how to feed the skin.

The set of ingredients is interesting and rich, and the formula is carefully balanced.

Efficiency

You will have to test the effectiveness of masks on your own skin. Successful or not is an open question.

Everything that is declared by the manufacturer, the mask must fulfill, and the effectiveness and, most importantly, safety have been tested and proven not only in theory, but also in practice.

Expert Opinion

“You can often see the label “hypoallergenic” on finished products. But how the skin will react to acids from berries and fruits, no one knows, ”- Elena Eliseeva, Vichy.

Convenience

It depends on the composition, but in general, homemade masks are inconvenient to use.

The main trump cards of masks from the manufacturer, apart from efficiency, are texture and aroma. An absolute advantage can be considered the fact that there are no problems with application and rinsing.

Folk recipes vs professional remedies

Favorite folk mask is made of clay.

Mask for young skin from acne

Act: cleanses, mattifies, has an anti-inflammatory effect.

Ingredients:

  • 1 st. l. white clay kaolin;

  • ¼ tsp turmeric;

  • mineral water.

How to prepare and use:

  1. mix clay powder and turmeric in a glass bowl;

  2. dilute with water to a paste, stirring with a wooden spoon;

  3. apply for 10-15 minutes;

  4. wash off with plenty of water;

  5. if the skin is stained, wipe the face with a cotton pad dipped in milk.

Editorial opinion. Clay masks draw impurities and sebum out of the pores, and turmeric is a good antiseptic. Theoretically, the mask is not bad, but in practice it threatens with overdrying of the skin (and sometimes irritation), a yellow complexion and soiled clothes. The question is why all this is needed when there are more comfortable means.

Steaming mask with zinc “Clean Skin”, Garnier contains active ingredients to fight imperfections: clay, salicylic acid and zinc. The mask warms up on the face, creating a thermal effect to combat blackheads. And no fuss with clay and spices.

Mask for young skin from blackheads

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp. l. yogurt;

  • ½ tbsp. l. nutmeg

How to prepare and use:

  1. mix components;

  2. apply a face mask

  3. rinse with warm water after 5-10 minutes.

Editorial opinion. Nutmeg has some antibacterial activity, soothes, and its grains work like a scrub. The fermented milk base stimulates cell renewal and pore cleansing. But still, there are much more effective and interesting options with natural ingredients that we are unlikely to be able to reproduce at home.

Purifying Facial Sugar Scrub, 3 Natural Sugars & Kiwi, L’Oréal Paris has a warming effect that helps in intensive cleansing of the skin, and kiwi pits work as an exfoliating component. Peppermint oil is known for its soothing properties. The result is visible immediately. And no fuss in the kitchen.

Fruit masks for young skin

Act: brighten and exfoliate the skin, preventing clogging of pores.

Ingredients:

  • 1 st. l. blackcurrant;

  • 1 st. l. red currant;

  • 1 st. l. sour cream or yogurt.

How to prepare and use:

    Editorial opinion. It uses the antioxidant and exfoliating properties of berries. Sour cream base is nutritious, which means it softens the skin. You can try, but you can’t lighten the pigment spot at once, and every day crushing berries and walking with sour cream on your face is not our method.

    Night peeling Idéalia, Vichy – it is not necessary to crush the berries (and also defrost them in the cold season) to restore radiance and whiteness to the skin. You can simply wipe your face before bed with this lotion with glycolic acid, blueberry and black tea extracts without any inconvenience. You need to do this regularly, before applying the night cream.

    Mask for oily skin

    Act: exfoliates and cleanses the skin.

    Ingredients:

    • 3 tbsp. l. yogurt;

    • 1 st. l. honey;

    • 1 st. l. flax seeds.

    How to prepare and use:

    1. mix all;

    2. apply the mask on the face with circular massaging movements;

    3. leave for 2 minutes;

    4. rinse with water.

    reaction opinion. The anti-inflammatory effect of honey is combined with two types of exfoliation – lactic acid is responsible for the chemical, and flax seeds are responsible for the mechanical. Competent mask in terms of home beauty cooking. But professionals offer optimally balanced means of complex action.

    Mineral peeling mask “Double Radiance”, Vichy provides a double peeling effect, for which fruit acids and small volcanic particles are responsible. Works conscientiously.

    Combination skin mask

    Act: renews, softens and moisturizes the skin.

    Ingredients:

    • 3 Art. l oatmeal;

    • 2 tbsp. l. yogurt;

    • 1 Art. l. honey.

    How to prepare and use:

    1. brew flakes in boiling water until swelling;

    2. mix with the rest of the ingredients;

    3. apply on face and leave for 15 minutes.

    Editorial opinion. It’s great that at home you can make a mixture that, on the one hand, will help cleanse the skin, and on the other hand, soothe and moisturize. If you don’t have ready-made masks from a trusted manufacturer at hand, it will do. But it cannot be compared with them.

    Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque, Kiehl’s contains soft clay with the addition of turmeric extract, cranberry oil, rich in antioxidants, and the seeds of the same berry – everything you need to exfoliate, soften, moisturize the skin.

    Moisturizing mask for young skin

    Act: moisturizes and refreshes.

    Ingredients:

    • ½ cucumber;

    • 2 tbsp. l. aloe vera juice.

    How to prepare and use:

    1. cut the cucumber and grind in a blender;

    2. mix with aloe vera;

    3. apply the mixture on the face and leave for half an hour;

    4. wash off with cool water.

    Editorial opinion. A simple mask with high-quality hydrators, in which there are a lot of useful microelements and vitamins. Nice, but old as the world. We are confident that it is time to move on to new developments.

    Sheet mask “Moisturizing + anti-stress”, Garnier Enriched with lavender oil, it provides an intense moisturizing and relaxing effect at the same time.
