Mask for deep cleansing of the skin: homemade or ready-made products

If every evening you examined your skin under a microscope, you would not doubt the need for thorough cleansing. By the way, masks do a great job with this. It remains to decide which ones to choose – store or hand-made.

What is deep skin cleansing

Let’s say right away: the term “deep cleansing” originated somewhere on the Internet, skin care professionals do not use it, preferring to talk about intensive cleansing. Therefore, in our article, under deep cleansing, we will mean it.

Everyone knows about the three main stages of skin care. But it is important to understand that cleansing, toning and moisturizing are interconnected, and the final result depends on how clearly and competently each procedure is carried out. Purification is the first and main one.

Usually it is carried out twice a day, in the morning and in the evening. But in the case when the quality and texture of the skin (dullness, uneven relief, black spots, etc.) require it, it is recommended to take measures that are called intensive skin cleansing in cosmetology. The goal is to cleanse the skin and pores well, and at the same time remove the layer of dead cells.

Are masks able to clean the pores of the face

In the fight against pollution, all means are good: scrubs, exfoliating creams, as well as cleansing masks. In addition to cleansing and freeing the epidermis from impurities, all these categories of beauty products provide skin care and simultaneously solve other problems.

  • Absorb sebum.

  • Fight free radicals and oxidative stress.

  • Moisturize the skin and make it more elastic.

  • Restore radiance to the face and reduce signs of aging.

Clay masks based on kaolin are traditionally effective. They help cleanse the pores, get rid of excess dead cells on the surface, even out the complexion.

Take our quiz to find out which mask is right for you.

In cosmetology, the mask is regarded as an intensive care, which is shown 1-2 times a week. The skin reacts to such a powerful stimulation as a “shake”, activating the internal tissue reserves. Regular (but not daily!) use of masks allows her to stay in good shape.

Indications for cleansing masks

Purifying masks are most often recommended in the following cases:
  • for oily and problematic skin;

  • with a tendency to acne and blackheads.

The need for cleansing masks increases with the advent of summer, as the heat increases the work of the sebaceous glands and they begin to produce sebum more actively. To prevent clogging of pores and the appearance of blackheads, intensive skin cleansing can be carried out with a mask.

Usually the mask is done 1-2 times a week. But the frequency of the procedure largely depends on the condition of the skin at the moment.

How to choose a mask according to skin type

Each of us has our own skin type. And this means that the choice of an intensively cleansing mask should be approached taking into account this fact. After all, what is suitable for oily skin is not suitable, for example, for dry and sensitive skin. However, first things first.

Oily and combination skin

It is believed that such skin is prone to the appearance of shine and blackheads. The task of the mask for intensive cleansing is not just to eliminate excess shine, but also to clean the pores. Therefore, look for different types of clay in the composition – kaolin, gassul, bentonite.

Dry skin

Dry skin is less in need of intensive cleansing masks. Usually the pores on it are almost invisible, there is no shine. For intensive cleansing, she needs other ingredients – plant extracts, algae extracts, components that not only help cleanse, but also retain moisture inside the tissues (for example, hyaluronic acid).

Normal skin

People with normal skin can afford to choose an intensive cleansing mask with any set of ingredients. Such skin will respond well to both clay, which will help unclog pores, and softer ingredients that can moisturize and soften the epidermis during cleansing.

Rules for the use of home masks

Even if you are making a mask for intensive cleansing at home (namely, we are talking about home procedures in this article), we advise you not to neglect any of the preparation steps.

The best time for masks is from 19.00 to 22.00, when the skin is most receptive to active substances.

Purification

The mask is applied only to cleansed skin. In order for the active ingredients to start working, the face must be cleansed of impurities using micellar water, gel or foam. Then treat with scrub cream (without effort), wash your face, blot your face with a napkin, and then do not forget to apply tonic.

Rules for applying a mask

Take a brush to apply the mask. Spread the composition over the face with light movements, except for the area around the eyes. Do not rub under any circumstances.

Timing

The exposure time of the finished mask is indicated on the product packaging. As for self-made masks, it is not recommended to keep them on the skin for more than 20 minutes.

How to wash off the mask correctly

The mask is washed off with warm or cool water – hands, sponge or soft cloth.

Care after the mask

After the procedure, use a tonic or lotion. The better the skin is hydrated, the more effective the subsequent care will be. Therefore, apply a cream (moisturizing or nourishing) not on a dry, but on a slightly damp face.
