Much has been written about the benefits of potatoes. Due to its healing and nutritional properties, high content of phosphorus, potassium, calcium, iron, folic and ascorbic acids, potatoes have taken a strong place in the national cuisines of various countries. It is tasty boiled, fried and baked. A tender and nutritious casserole made from mashed potatoes with green peas will surely appeal to adults and small households.
Before you start cooking the casserole, you need to make mashed potatoes with an egg, for the recipe you will need: – 1 kg of potatoes, – 2 cups of milk, – 2 tbsp. butter, – 1 egg, – salt.
Mashed potatoes are always prepared with hot milk. From cold it takes on an unpleasant gray tint.
Potatoes must be thoroughly washed, peeled and boiled in salted water. Then drain the water, and put the potatoes in a saucepan again for a while on a quiet fire or place in the oven. This is done so that the remaining water evaporates from the potatoes and it turns out to be more crumbly and tasty.
After that, without letting the potatoes cool down, you should quickly wipe them through a sieve or knead them with a wooden pestle. Then add butter, salt and, stirring continuously, pour in hot milk. Last but not least, beat a raw egg into the mashed potatoes. It will add a special splendor to the puree.
How to make green pea mashed potatoes
To make a beautiful two-tone casserole, you need to bake mashed potatoes with green peas. This will require: – 5-6 tbsp. peeled green peas, – 2-3 tbsp. milk,
– salt.
First of all, you need to boil the water over high heat. When it boils, add salt and add green peas. Bring to a boil again, reduce heat and cook the peas until soft. If he is young enough literally 5 minutes, and if not very – it will take 15 minutes. Then you should throw him in a colander. When the water is drained, mash the green peas with hot milk and a pinch of salt until smooth. You can make pea puree using a blender.
This is followed by the previously cooked mashed potatoes, divided into 2 parts. Add green pea puree to one of them and stir thoroughly.
Mashed potatoes casserole can also be made with a layer of vegetable or minced meat
Now you can start making a delicious mashed potato casserole with green peas. This will require: 1 head of onion, vegetable oil, sour cream and bread crumbs.
First of all, you need to transfer some of the mashed potatoes with green peas to a frying pan or into a special baking dish, greased with butter and sprinkled with breadcrumbs. Smooth the surface with a knife and lay out a layer of peeled and finely chopped onions, fried in a pan with vegetable oil. Then cover with the rest of the mashed potatoes without peas, smooth again, grease with sour cream or sprinkle with vegetable oil and put in an oven preheated to 200 ° C to bake for 20-25 minutes.
