Do you think lush and long eyelashes with mascara are a publicity stunt? Will Mahlerb, director of training at Smashbox, told Woman’s Day how to color eyelashes correctly for a doll-like look.
1. Brush movements should be slow and long, not fast and short. Never apply mascara by moving the applicator from side to side; it will glue the lashes.
2. Use a small hand-held mirror. Keep it below your chin and look down as you apply the mascara. This will allow you to paint over the roots of the cilia well for maximum volume and curl.
3. After painting the lashes with the side of the brush, apply a little more mascara with the very tip of the applicator to the lashes individually.
4. For super effect and durability, be sure to use an eyelash primer.
5. If you curl your lashes with tongs, use waterproof mascara. It will help the bend stay longer.
6. If you smear the mascara while applying, let it dry on your skin first. Then remove the mascara from the skin with a cotton swab dipped in the primer. This will quickly clean up the stain without smudging the mascara further.
