Martini Cocktails – 35 Best Homemade Recipes

Greetings to everyone who reads my article! First, I’ll tell you a little background, which influenced my alcohol preferences. The first alcohol I tried in my life (secretly at the prom) was a Martini.

Its taste, aroma and at the same time a slight bitterness then turned my head. These impressions, memories and emotions pop up in my memory every time I drink it.

Years have passed, but Martini remains my favorite drink, and Martini cocktails, in my opinion, reveal its taste even brighter. It gives cocktails lightness, piquancy, goes well with other types of alcohol. Therefore, I want to tell you what Martinis are drunk with, as well as advise on some recipes for my favorite cocktails.

Story from subscriber Natalya Sergeevna.

The best martini cocktails at home

I like to make martini cocktails myself. At first it was a little scary, but then I realized that it was easy and simple, and the manufacturing process gives incredible pleasure, because you can show your imagination.

Unfortunately, at that time, the Internet was a rarity and a “luxury” that few people could afford. Therefore, cooking recipes had to be collected “from the world on a thread”: some recipes were spied on by bartenders, friends and acquaintances shared with others, and some I invented myself.

It is not at all necessary to be a “cool” bartender to make a cocktail at home. I want to share with you the most famous and best martini cocktail recipes you can make at home and here is what it takes.

Required components and equipment

When I made my first cocktails, I didn’t have any equipment. Over time, I began to gradually buy the equipment I needed.

The first thing I bought was a shaker. Now I’m laughing at myself because at first I thought it was a thermos.

A shaker is an indispensable attribute of preparing a tasty and uniform cocktail. Its main task is to mix the components to give uniformity. And if the composition of the cocktail involves ice, then the use of a shaker allows not only to cool the future cocktail, but also to improve stirring due to the dense, solid structure of ice.

My second acquisition was, as I call it, “jigga”. In fact, this is a special measuring cup, and the correct name is jigger. I made my first cocktails “by eye”, then it seemed to me that I kept the right proportions.

But I thought so until I applied a jigger, which allows you to maintain accurate volumes and balances the taste of ingredients, especially alcohol.

One of my favorite alcoholic masterpieces, cocktails containing berries and fruits, which are refreshing at any time of the year. I used to suffer, crushed fruits and berries with a spoon until I got the consistency I needed, I got all dirty with juice, pieces of berries scattered all over the kitchen.

But then I bought a small metal crush with teeth – muddler. This tool is ideal for preparing fruit and berry ingredients. Making cocktails is much easier with a muddler.

I thought that this bar equipment would be enough for me to make cocktails of any complexity, until my friends, knowing my hobby, gave me a couple more “devices” that I didn’t even know about before: a strainer (for straining and filtering drinks) and a twisted bar spoon ( long spoon for mixing).

At the end of the article, I will tell you how you can replace this bar stock if it is not there. We are talking about items from the usual kitchen.

Martini with vodka

I make the classic vodka martini cocktail mainly for men to make them feel like “007 agents”. I take a mixing glass from a shaker, add pieces of ice to it by about a third.

At the same time, you can cool the glass in which the cocktail will be served. With a twisted bar spoon, I stir the ice in a glass for 1-2 minutes, thus cooling it. I drain the water that has thawed from stirring.

Then I take the vodka out of the freezer, measure the required volume with a jigger and pour it into a glass. I stir the vodka with ice a little and add dry vermouth. I pour the drink into a glass that has already cooled with the help of a strainer. The cocktail can be garnished with a couple of olives.

Proportions for cooking:

  • vodka – 75 ml;
  • extra dry Martini – 15 ml;
  • ice cubes – 5-7 pcs.

Dry Martini

I like to prepare a dry Martini cocktail exclusively according to the classic recipe, observing all proportions, then it turns out to be as dry as possible. I make it with three ingredients: dry London gin, dry vermouth and olives for garnish.

First, chill the mixing bowl and cocktail glass. Stir the ice in a glass with a bar spoon for a couple of minutes to cool. I first add gin to a glass with ice, and then Martini. Then I stir, cooling a little, and then pour through the strainer and decorate with olives on a skewer.

Proportions for cooking:

  • gin – 6 parts;
  • dry Martini – 1 part;
  • pieces of ice – 5-7 pcs.

Sometimes I add quite a bit of olive brine to the glass to make a so-called dirty martini.

With Lady Chatterley’s gin

English classic cocktail with gin rich turquoise color. I add pieces of ice to the shaker can, measure with a jigger the required amount of juice, Martini, white gin and to give color to Blue Curacao. Mix the ingredients thoroughly and pour through a strainer into a glass.

With orange juice

A very simple but pleasant tasting drink with vermouth and orange juice, which I call orange. I squeeze juice from one or two oranges. I cool the mixing glass. With a jigger I measure and pour the required amount of alcohol and strained orange juice. Then gently mix with a bar spoon and pour into a glass with a strainer.

Before pouring into a cocktail glass, I decorate with orange zest, which I fasten on top with a skewer with a cherry.

With cherry juice

Martini mohiato

Refreshing cocktail based on Martini and mint. I put a few mint leaves in a glass (the fresher the mint, the richer the taste) to almost half and fill it with sugar. With a muddler, I knead the mint leaves with sugar right in the glass so that the mint gives off some juice. Then I pour lime juice and knead a little more. I decorate the glass with the remaining half of the lime.

Lingonberry

The name suggests that the cocktail will contain lingonberries. It is very difficult to find fresh lingonberries, so I buy frozen berries. I defrost the lingonberries, wash and knead with muddler, add granulated sugar, put on fire and bring to a boil.

As soon as the lingonberries with sugar begin to boil, remove from heat, let cool and filter. At the bottom of the jug I pour a little powdered sugar, add lingonberry syrup, gin and martini.

How to Serve and Drink Martini Cocktails Properly

Any kind of Martini is considered an aperitif, that is, it is customary to serve it before meals. Vermouth is believed to aid digestion and improve appetite. Pure Martini is served chilled to 10-15 degrees, it is at this temperature that its taste and light aroma are revealed.

Martini cocktails are ideal for cocktail parties, receptions and romantic meetings. It is right to drink them in small sips, slowly, savoring the drink. Martini cocktails are usually served with fruits and berries: strawberries, cherries, pineapple slices, orange slices and kiwi.

Martini Cocktails – 35 Best Homemade Recipes

As for glassware, there is a huge choice depending on the ingredients in the composition of the drink: from a cocktail glass with Martini (they are also jokingly called “Martinki”) and margaritas to highballs and rocks.

Conclusion

I shared with you my experience of making cocktails, what Martinis interfere with, what vermouth goes with, and how to drink them. Martini cocktails are for every taste: strong, light, fruity, refreshing, long. You can cook them yourself at home.

And as I already wrote at the beginning of the article, I am sharing with you what kitchen utensils can replace bar equipment tools:

  • the shaker can be replaced with a jar with a closing lid;
  • instead of a jigger, a regular measuring cup will do;
  • madler can be replaced with a spoon or pestle with a mortar;
  • using a tea strainer, you can filter cocktails if there is no strainer;
  • instead of a bar spoon, you can use a long teaspoon with a volume of 5 ml.

And for today I say goodbye to you, subscribe to articles and share my experience with friends. Do not be afraid, try, experiment, create and everything will work out! But remember, drinking too much alcohol is bad for your health.
