Galician cuisine celebrates its first festival from September 19 to 28. With the name of Gastronomic Compostela.
The Xunta de Galicia, through the tourism agency of the autonomous community, sponsors this contest in this its first edition, with the aim of promoting tourism and leisure related to gastronomy, focusing the activity on the premises of the city of ” apostle”.
The contest that was born with a vocation of continuity, aims to become a reference point of Galician gastronomic culture and a meeting place for the hospitality sector, where its professionals can transmit the culinary knowledge of the city, from the very heart of culinary creation , the “Abastos Market” of the city.
The proposal will be full of activities aimed at the professional sector, journalists and opinion makers and the general public, so that the experience is an integral intervention of the architecture of the Plaza de Abastos itself, its positions, the producers, the cooks, and how no, the citizens and visitors themselves.
Throughout the ten days of the event, the different restaurants, hotels, inns, taperías and wine bars in the city will offer their menus consisting of an aperitif, first course, second course and dessert, at a unit price of 18 euros.
Their themes will be centered on 4 ideas
- The territory.
- The tradition.
- The innovation.
- The creativity.
There will be 25 participating establishments:
Hotel Spa Relais & Chateaux A Quinta da Agua, Hotel AC Palacio del Carmen, Acio, A Moa, Bodeguilla de Santa Marta, Mesón A Charca, A Curtidoría, Café de Altamira, Caney, Los Caracoles, Casa Elisa, O Celme do Caracol, O Curro da Parra, Enxebre do Hostal dos Reis Católicos, O Ferro, Garum, Pedro Roca, Quercus IP, Resas, Rincón de Gurpegui, Rúa Villar, San Francisco Hotel Monumento, Singulario, Tapería Castelao and O Tragaluz de Texturas Galegas.
Between the “Market Menus” elaborated we can taste a Bread brioche of crab, avocado and cucumber, a Papillote of hake with spinach and prawns with velvety of mushrooms, some peppers stuffed with confit veal tail and San Simón cheese, a turbot with clams in green sauce, etc …
During the days of the celebration, a Gastro Space will be created in the Mercado de Abastos itself, with a setting specially created for the occasion, where you will be able to see a representation of the restaurants participating in the “Market Menus” route.
Tapas and half portions of products purchased on site will be offered and will be prepared with excellent creativity by the participants of the event.
There will be no lack of space for leisure, setting the places with concerts and DJ sessions …
