Marine decor: master class

Marine decor: master class

Even an ordinary plastic planter for indoor plants can be changed beyond recognition with a minimum of tools and materials. We suggest you decorate the pots in a fashionable nautical style.

We suggest using the fashionable imitation technique and turning the most ordinary plastic into stone. By the way, we don’t need anything special for such a transformation.

You will need:

– pots,

– decorative acrylic paste of white color, as well as “marbled”,

– gray acrylic paint,

– decorative paint “like a stone” in a spray gun,

– decorative stones, river stones, decorative plastic figurines, ceramic tiles,

– as well as brushes, a simple pencil, liquid nails glue.

1. Create a stone texture

The planter is entirely covered with decorative spray paint, thus creating a stone texture.

Then, on the dried pots, a wavy line is drawn in random order – our marine decor will pass along it.

Where necessary, white decorative paste is applied to the workpiece with a brush.

To prevent the composition from drying out, the paste should be applied gradually.

On the areas covered with white paste, decorative stones are poured, pressing tightly.

It is most convenient to work with thin rubber gloves.

After that, the wavy line (along the contour) and the pots (along the bottom edge) are covered with a marbled paste.

The top edge of the planter is also decorated with acrylic paint.

At the bottom of the planter, draw arabesques (curls) with a simple pencil.

Then they are painted using a brush and a gray acrylic compound.

By the way, the arabesques will remind us of another very fashionable summer style – Moorish, which is great for decorating the entire summer cottage and, in particular, the recreation area.

3. We glue decorative elements

Small amounts of liquid nails are applied to the figures of fish or other inhabitants of the deep sea (it can be starfish, squid, seahorses, jellyfish, etc.).

The plastic parts are glued.

However, before proceeding to this stage, check whether the decorative paste has dried.

Larger and flatter river stones are fixed on a plastic planter in a slightly different way – not with white decorative acrylic paste, but with two or three drops of liquid nails.

4. The nautical-style planter is ready

The work is done. Such a planter will decorate not only the window sill of the apartment, but also an open veranda in the country or a patio that is fashionable this summer season.

The nautical theme is one of the hottest in summer design. To decorate the interior in a nautical style, striped blue and white motifs, all kinds of shells and multi-colored pebbles are used.

Exotic birds, tropical plants, lifebuoys, lighthouses, flags, ropes – all these are indispensable motives of nautical design.

The marine style is great for decorating a country house, as well as an office or a room for a boy.
