From the heart down – this is how male medicine doctors, the only one in Poland that deals with Dr. Ewa Kempisty-Jeznach, will get to know patients. In an interview with Medonet, the specialist talks about why the man avoids the doctor like fire. It proves that a genius cure for most typical male diseases is nothing else than the royal hormone – testosterone.
- The man is culturally taught not to cry. He doesn’t like going to the doctor. He is rather pushed to the doctor’s office by women or, God forbid, he is immediately taken to the hospital in an ambulance – explains Dr. Ewa Kempisty-Jeznach
- The man himself comes to the doctor most often because of the loss of libido – he explains
- Dr. Kempisty-Jeznach is a specialist in the so-called male medicine, i.e. holistic medicine for men, in which the patient is examined from head to toe by one doctor

Aleksandra Lipiec, MedTvoiLokony: Only one Polish doctor specializes in male medicine and it is a woman. How do patients respond to this paradox?
Dr. med. Ewa Kempisty-Jeznach: They seem to respond well because males with certain male weaknesses prefer to expose themselves to a female rather than to another male, especially one who is well built and stronger.
Is it a shame that men don’t want to get tested?
Yes. The man is Indian. He is not afraid of pain and does not like to show weakness. It is recorded in its nature, in testosterone – the hormone of strength, firmness and decision-making. We women can’t even imagine how strong testosterone is. In addition, the man is culturally taught by his family and society that it is not proper for him to cry. He doesn’t like going to the doctor. He is rather pushed to the doctor’s office by women or, God forbid, he is immediately taken to the hospital in an ambulance. Fortunately, things are getting better and better. The young generation is already responsible in this respect and is undergoing preventive examinations. However, there is a problem with the representatives of the 40+ generation.
What exactly does male medicine do?
Men’s medicine was founded in 2001 at the world congress in Vienna. Is it holistic medicine of men. This differs from andrology, which deals only with male hormones, or urology, for example, which deals only with the urogenital system, in that it synergistically covers all aspects of male health. In male medicine, a patient is examined from head to toe by one doctor. He advises him on what to do next, is his guide in health, which is significantly different from that of a woman, because it is controlled by the royal hormone – testosterone.
So testosterone is responsible for male problems?
I would say that our lives are driven by hormones. If the hormones are functioning well, everything is fine. Women have at least three hormones: estrone, estradiol, and estriol, plus progesterone. On the other hand, men are dependent on one single hormone – testosterone, which determines everything. Low testosterone levels cause effusion as well as various diseases.
What are these diseases?
It is about the so-called metabolic syndrome, which includes elevated triglycerides, lowered levels of “good” cholesterol, obesity, hypertension, glucose intolerance and, in the future, diabetes, and increased waist circumference.
Which signals sent by the male body prove that it is high time to see a doctor?
If a man begins to put fat on his stomach, if he becomes tired, depressed, does not show activity in the afternoons, feels clearly disturbed sleep, he is always exhausted. If he is in low mood – sometimes melancholic and sometimes irritable – he should check his testosterone. I think that a man should have his testosterone tested every yearjust like women test their hormones.
- It also occurs in men. The first symptoms are abdominal obesity and a decrease in libido
And if your testosterone levels are insufficient, do you need to start training?
It is not only about total testosterone, but also about testosterone free. You can go to the gym and develop total testosterone a lot, but not use it at all, because “on the way” there are a few thieves who take it. These include, first of all, stress, improper eating patterns, lack of physical activity, and sleep deprivation. These are lifestyle factors. In my book I described the system of the five “S” because one big downside of men’s lifestyle is stress, and the four biggest pluses: sport, sex, sleep and diet. With these four pluses, one drawback can be eliminated. In addition, you also need to remember about the silencing techniques required to combat stress in the XNUMXst century. Calming techniques turn out to be very difficult for men because they are not used to them. They believe that yoga, mindfulness or, for example, autogenic training are not masculine.

What are the most common health problems of modern men?
The man himself comes to the doctor most often because of the loss of libido. And the lack of libido indicates a drop in testosterone. The efficiency of the cavernous vessels in the penis is responsible for potency. But in recent years, it has been discovered that there are testosterone receptors in the penis as well. It is claimed that 10-20 percent. penis hardness depends on testosterone. The second most common disorder, after potency problems, is premature ejaculation. Men who experience this fear that their women are unfulfilled. Premature ejaculation can have many causes: stress, disease, anatomical changes.
A man with an embarrassing problem enters the doctor’s office – and what next?
The first visit to a male medicine doctor is a casual conversation, which does not start with the topic of male-female relations, but with the well-being. We ask the patient about his behavior, whether he has aches and pains here and there, where he feels bad – in the bones, joints or in the heart. We are interested in the results of blood tests, cholesterol, PSA, prostate, the latest indicators of cardiovascular risks, such as homocysteine and fibrinogen. We also talk about metabolism. So this is a really holistic approach. The man doesn’t have to worry about anything. Sexual issues are addressed slowly and gradually. The man does not have to talk about them himself. The doctor asks him. If a doctor accosts a man, asks specific questions, it is much easier. It is characteristic of male medicine that the doctor, starting from various topics, going from the heart down to the bottom, establishes a closer acquaintance with the patient and encourages him, is able to open him up.
You transferred your medical practice to Poland from Germany. How do Poles differ from Germans when it comes to taking care of their health?
The difference is there, but to the advantage of the Polish patient who is more inquisitive. I don’t know where it comes from. Perhaps out of greater curiosity, and perhaps less confidence in doctors. I consider this a plus as the patient should be well informed. The German recognizes the doctor as such an authority that he does not check him at all. He doesn’t go to several specialists, but he trusts one hundred percent. The Pole checks the diagnosis several times. Sometimes this results in even greater uncertainty, because different doctors have different opinions on the same subject. In the end, he reaches for the Internet because he doesn’t know which doctor was right.
And the internet is full of harmful myths …
The source of myths and medical mistakes is outdated knowledge. Medicine is moving forward. He’s making amazing progress. Recently, I attended a male medicine congress in Budapest. The works from 2013 were completely contradicted there by new reports. Many terms have been redefined in recent years. The prostate diagnostics was most affected. Total PSA no longer plays a role. Now we have to study the so-called PSA indicatorwhich is free testosterone divided by total testosterone. Only this indicator shows us the risk of developing prostate cancer.
We also know more and more about testosterone?
Testosterone has a very bad reputation that has unfortunately been ruined by the fitness industry. It is associated with Schwarzenegger, with a bald head and broad shoulders. A is a wonderful male hormone. In the hands of a doctor, it is the best remedy for preventing many disorders. But it must be administered in moderation, under constant laboratory control, in the form of controlled funds from the pharmacy. Until recently, it was believed that testosterone could cause heart attacks and hypertension. I also learned it when I finished my studies. The latest works from 2017–2018 say something completely different – that testosterone has even anti-infarct and anti-diabetic properties. In Australia, there is currently a national treatment program for people with obesity and atherosclerosis with testosterone. Testosterone is an anabolic hormone that burns fat and creates muscle. Therefore, it is a brilliant antidiabetic drug.
