Raspberry Lyachka has certain properties, expressed by the following indicators:

  • raspberry roots – superficial, depth up to 0,6 m, fibrous, intertwined in the form of a ball, perennial rhizome has many appendages, from which one and biennial shoots grow, the shoots do not spread to a great distance from the bush;
  • Lyachka raspberry stems are erect, strong, reach a height of 2,5 m, first-year shoots are green, covered with thorns (unlike other varieties, they are softer), second-year shoots are brown, stiff, after the end of fruiting they dry out and must be removed from bush;
  • leaves – oval, serrated at the edges, the color of the leaves of raspberry Lyachka is rich green, the back side is whitish, on both sides the leaves are pubescent with soft hairs;

Advantages

  1. Raspberry Lyachka belongs to varieties with early maturity, fruiting period is long. With a large number of fruit-bearing bushes in agricultural firms, there will be no shortage of fruit picking, the harvest is guaranteed for the whole summer, right up to autumn frosts. For this reason, European fruit and berry farms prefer to grow raspberries of the Lyachka variety in large areas on an industrial scale.
  2. Raspberry yield is above average, from 1 hectare of a berry plantation, an average of 15-20 tons can be harvested per season, and from one bush in the garden – up to 3-5 kg.
  3. Raspberries Lyachka large, the average size of a berry is 4 cm in length, the weight of one thing reaches 6-8 g. Experts rated their taste at 9 points out of 10.
  4. The variety is highly resistant to fungal diseases, not afraid of sudden cold snaps, winter hardy, which allows gardeners to grow Lyachka raspberries not only in the southern regions, but also in more severe climatic conditions.
  5. The thorns on the raspberry shoots are soft and do not cause inconvenience when harvesting.
  6. Raspberry Lyachka has high degree of safety during transportation, losses are minimal.
  7. Bushes are compact, the stems are strong and resilient, they are not afraid of strong winds and hurricanes, they bend under heavy winds and rains, but do not break.
  8. In the care of planting Lyachka raspberries, no special conditions are needed; it tolerates well the engraftment in a new place, shading and rare drafts.
  9. Raspberry propagates by basal processes, less often by dividing the bush, seed propagation is not recommended. Raspberry seedlings can be planted in early spring or late summer, provided that during the current season the bushes have formed new shoots about 30-50 cm high.

Disadvantages

According to all varietal indicators about Lyachka raspberry, we can say that it has no flaws at all, but our meticulous gardeners still found some flaws in this variety, in their opinion, raspberries have:

  • poor tolerance of dry periods or lack of constant watering, without moisture, the plant ceases to form new shoots, the process of fruit set stops, the leaves turn yellow and fall off prematurely;
  • in severe frosts, some buds on raspberry shoots freeze out even under a layer of snow, in such conditions they need additional insulation for the winter;
  • low resistance to the pest – raspberry stem gall midge, whose caterpillars infect young shoots, autumn or spring treatment of raspberry bushes with special solutions is necessary here.

Features

We decided to single out two indicators of the varietal characteristics of Lyachka raspberries in a separate subsection, since gardeners cannot come to a consensus – this is plus or minus:

  1. Experts highly appreciated the taste of Lyachka raspberry berries, but, according to some berry growers, they lack the sweetness inherent in all raspberry varieties, the taste qualities do not correspond to those stated in the description of the variety.
  2. The roots of the raspberry bush grow weakly, form few root shoots, which means that there will be a shortage of planting material for further reproduction. Others are quite happy with it, the raspberry roots do not spread over the entire area and do not interfere with other plantings.

To decide what is best for you, plant a Pole-Fly in your garden, taste its berries, and also learn all the nuances of its cultivation. Our next recommendations should come in handy. Planting and care

Experienced gardeners offer two ways to plant raspberry seedlings – trench or hole. Separate planting places are necessary for those varieties that are very sensitive to lack of light or their root system grows strongly and takes up a lot of space on the site. Such seedlings are planted at a greater distance from each other (1-1,5 m). Bushes are planted in trench pits, the roots of which do not grow beyond measure, and a slight shading is easily tolerated by them. These varieties include raspberry Lyachka.

Having chosen a landing site, further work is performed in the following order:

  1. Dig a trench 40-60 cm deep and 50 cm wide.
  2. Apply fertilizers for fruit and berry crops.
  3. Mix them with the ground, pour in the amount of 1-2 buckets per 1 meter of trench.
  4. After the soil settles a little, and the water is completely absorbed into the ground, spread the seedlings along the trench after 40-50 cm.
  5. Gradually cover each seedling with loose earth, holding it in an upright position.
  6. Compact the soil around the seedlings, pour water (2 liters per sprout).
  7. Mulch the trench with straw, chopped tree bark or peat.
Advice! To prevent raspberry roots from growing in different directions, the edges of the trench can be overlaid with protective devices: slate sheets (as shown in the photo), metal scraps, pieces of brick, or other construction waste suitable for this.

Raspberry Lyachka can be planted both in spring (in April-May) and in autumn, starting from the end of summer (in August-October). The upper part of young raspberry seedlings is immediately cut to 1/3 of the height of the sprout. During autumn planting, young shoots are additionally insulated for the winter. Use for this a thick layer of straw or reeds, which in the spring can be an excellent mulching material.

The complex of measures for caring for raspberry Lyachka is the same as for all berry bushes:

  • watering if necessary (lack of rain for a long time);
  • top dressing organics in autumn and complex chemical fertilizers in spring, plus 2-3 times per season additional top dressing to enhance growth and increase yields;
  • control of pests, diseases (if there are symptoms), loosening and removal of large weeds.

Experience in growing raspberries comes with time, not every novice gardener is able to independently grow and fully preserve their plantings of Lyachka raspberries. Here we have posted a few reviews of young gardeners who have already learned from their own experience how to grow it.

Reviews

Roman, 37 years old, Yekaterinburg
I breed different varieties of raspberries, I planted Lyachka after I found out that in Poland they are grown on plantations for sale. I planted a lot, but some of the seedlings froze in the first winter. The rest, the survivors, I decided to save, now we cover them with reed mats for the winter. Helped. The rest of the qualities of this raspberry suit me completely.
Svetlana, 25 years old, Cheboksary
I inherited the garden from my grandmother. All raspberry bushes are already old, so I decided to update the plantings. I started with planting Lyachka raspberries. Compared to grandmother’s raspberries, Lyachka’s berries are simply huge and taste wonderful.

Conclusion

Gardeners renew Lyachka raspberry bushes every 5-7 years, after this time, the formation of fruits is sharply reduced and the yield drops, and in order not to be completely without excellent berries, start updating your garden by planting Lyachka raspberries, we hope that you will not regret this step .
