Bauknecht washing machines have a reliable assembly, but over time they fail, problems arise that need to be fixed.
Contacting a service center is not always profitable, so you can try to repair the Bauknecht washing machine yourself.
Fault codes SM Bauknecht (Bauknecht)
Modern models of washing machines are equipped with a self-diagnosis system: with its help, you can quickly detect a malfunction, since the error code is displayed on the display. You just have to understand the meaning of the code and do your own repairs.
Consider the error codes typical for Bauknecht washing machines.

But not always the fault code is displayed on the screen. Sometimes the user notices a malfunction in the operation of the Bauknecht washing machine, but the self-diagnosis system is silent. In this case, an autotest program is provided.
After its launch, all the details of the SM are tested, then an error code is displayed on the display.
How to run “Autotest”
The launch of testing in the Bauknecht washing machine is described in the instructions. If you do not have instructions with you, then read on:
- Set the control selector to the “Drain” mode.
- Press and hold the Prewash button four times for 5 seconds.
When a breakdown is detected, the autotest stops and beeps. At the same time, the “Spin” light blinks, an error code is displayed on the display.
Typical problems
Let’s analyze the main malfunctions that can be found in Bauknecht washing machines.
CM Bauknecht does not wring clothes well
Did you notice that the washer began to wring things out badly? What can be done with your own hands:
- Check if the drum is overloaded with laundry. It is not necessary to fill the drum with things to failure, because when washing they become heavier, which leads to poor spinning and imbalance.
- If an imbalance occurs (when the laundry is knocked to one side), you need to manually distribute it evenly.
- The drain system is checked for blockage: pipe and drain pump. Parts are cleaned and put back in place.
Drum does not rotate well
When washing, the drum began to rotate poorly, extraneous sounds are heard. Probably, a foreign object got into the drum of the Bauknecht washing machine. You can eliminate the object with your own hands, carefully checking and feeling the drum.
To avoid such problems, check things and pockets well for small items that can cause damage to the washer.
Leak in washing machine
Look closely at which side the leak is coming from. Check the tightness of the closing of the hatch door, as well as the integrity of the rubber cuff. Inspect the handle and door lock for wear.

The cause of depressurization and leakage may be a strong vibration of the machine during operation. Check the correct installation of SM Bauknecht – it should stand exactly on the surface.
The inlet hose and its nuts are also checked. If the hose is damaged, replace it. Pull out and rinse the dispenser tray that may be clogged with powder.
Electronics problems
A typical problem with electronically controlled Bauknecht washing machines is the failure of its components. The electronic board is very sensitive to voltage drops, therefore, in the event of a short circuit, its elements burn out.
How to remove and check the control board on the Bauknecht washer:
- Shut off the water supply.
- Unplug the machine.
- After unscrewing the two screws on the back, remove the top panel of the CM.
- Pull out the dispenser tray by pressing the lock in the middle.
- Unscrew the three bolts that are behind the tray.
- Release the plastic clips securing the control panel. Take it off.
- Disconnect all wires from the control unit, remove the cover from it by pressing the latches.
- Having gained access to the board, inspect it for damage, burnt elements.
You can replace the control board with your own hands in the reverse order. But if the parts need repair, it is better to contact the master. Electronic components are among the most expensive in a washing machine. Therefore, if you do not understand electronics, it is better not to risk it.
