Makeup brushes: video

Modern makeup requires careful and careful application. Eye shadow, tone, powder and blush can be applied with sponges or fingertips, but it is much more professional to apply cosmetics with brushes. Use accessories made of natural or artificial pile; the choice depends on which cosmetics you prefer.

Choosing brushes: general rules

On sale you can find a variety of brushes – expensive and quite affordable, assembled in sets and single, made from natural or artificial materials. It is not necessary to buy products from well-known brands, the quality of the brushes, as well as their shape, are much more important. Beginners should get a pair of versatile accessories. If you enjoy using brushes, you can expand your collection.

Small and uncomfortable brushes are often included with eyeshadow and powder. Try to apply makeup with other accessories, usually the result is much more impressive

Good brushes should have the bristle of the same length and thickness, be firmly attached, and not have an unpleasant odor. Before buying, you need to pull on the hairs, checking them for strength and lack of brittleness. The brushes should be soft, firm, not prickly. Do not rely on the brand, for greater confidence in the quality of each brush, check by hand.

Brushes are made from natural or artificial bristles, each of the categories has its fans and opponents. Makeup experts advise using both options. Natural sable, pony, goat or squirrel hair is softer and perfect for working with loose dry products:

  • shadows
  • powdery
  • powder blush

Artificial brushes are more suitable for applying liquid and creamy textures, their pile has a less porous texture and distributes wet product well. In addition, artificial brushes are more durable and easier to care for.

Choose brushes with long, not too thin handles, they are much more convenient to use

The largest brush is for powder. It can be flattened or round; the first is convenient to apply sparkling powder and bronzers, the second is usually matting. A flatter brush is distinguished by an evenly cut bristle, a round brush is trimmed in the shape of a dome. Powder brushes are made from both artificial and natural fibers. Look for accessories with a firm but soft bristle that won’t scratch your face.

Flat long-haired brushes are very convenient for applying foundation. The most practical accessories are made of artificial bristles that do not absorb the foundation. The brush should be large enough and very durable, because it needs to be washed frequently. The edge is usually trimmed with a slight rounding. A similar smaller brush is for applying concealer.

The best blush brushes are made from soft natural bristles. The edges of the brushes are rounded to make it easier to apply blush to the convex parts of the cheeks.

Eye brushes deserve special attention. Flat with elongated pile, designed for applying shadows. Blending requires a fluffy, rounded brush with a wide tip. It is convenient to draw the contours of the eyelids with a very thin curved brush with a thin end; this is the accessory used by professional makeup artists. If you prefer cream and gel eyeliners, use a stiff, slant-edged brush for smooth, wide arrows of varying lengths.
