Types of primers

All primers vary in texture and color.

Like all product categories, primers differ in:

  • texture;

  • composition;

  • color.

To choose the right product, it makes sense to understand this issue in more detail. Consider the types of primers with different textures.

Silicone

This tool does not moisturize the skin, but it helps to even out the relief: it hides pores, traces of post-acne, and sometimes has a matting effect. The foundation applied over such a base lays down as evenly as possible, creating the effect of perfectly smooth skin without visible imperfections. For the ability to work on the principle of Photoshop filters, the silicone primer is called “grout”. This remedy is more suitable for oily and problematic skin.

Cream

The formula is based on nourishing and moisturizing ingredients, vitamins, plant extracts and oils. In contact with the skin, such a product works in several directions at once: it maintains a balance of moisture, evens out the tone and relief of the skin, and gives radiance. Suitable for dry, normal and combination skin.

Before buying a primer, carefully read the information on the label to familiarize yourself with the composition.

Liquid

The base for makeup with a liquid texture is most often transparent or translucent. Usually such funds are produced in vials with a pipette. The basis of the formula is water or oil. Liquid primers are worth paying attention to owners of dry skin. This product will provide a feeling of comfort.

As for shades, primers can be very different.

Transparent

Such tools are universal and are intended more for correcting the relief of the face than tone.

Color

Pigmented makeup bases are needed to mask all sorts of imperfections:

  • pink refreshes the color of dull tired skin;

  • yellow is suitable for camouflage of dark circles under the eyes;

  • blue is useful if an unhealthy yellowness has appeared in the area around the eyes;

  • green hides redness (pimples, vascular network).

With glowing effect

This primer contains light-reflecting particles that help to refresh the complexion and give the skin a radiance. The product is also suitable for aging skin.

When choosing a primer for dry skin, you must remember that products with a drying, matting effect are not suitable for it. Look for hydro fixatives and oils in the composition, or choose a water-based base.

It is not forbidden to layer primers on top of each other – the main thing is to collect less product so that the coating does not roll up.
