Make love every day: how often for couple sex?
Sex isn’t just about pleasure. Having sex is also good for your mental and physical health. So, should you take advantage of these benefits and make love on a daily basis, especially when you are in a relationship?
How often should you have sex as a couple?
There is no standard or rule for how often a couple “should” have sex. Sex is an intimate and personal act, which should only be done when both partners feel the urge and let it be known. There is, a priori (except health problems related to the practice of a physical activity), no contraindication to make love every day or more either. It is therefore up to you and your partner to find the ideal rhythm, according to your desires and your life as a couple. Sex should be synonymous with pleasure: if you feel like having sex every day, do it! What is more, as we will see, this activity has many advantages.
The benefits of sex within the couple
Making love has several advantages within a couple. First, of course, it helps to bring pleasure to both partners. As we will see, pleasure and orgasm have positive effects on the mind, as well as on the physical. But sex also allows you to share an intimate and privileged moment with your partner. The meeting of bodies, the sharing, the shared pleasure are private and unique moments, and which can be precious for the well-being and the balance of your couple. This allows you to find yourself and be in communion with your partner. It is also an opportunity to exchange your feelings, and to prove to the other your desire for him.
What are the good reasons for having sex?
Having sex has several benefits for the body and for your health. Sex, and especially orgasm, can for example reduce stress and anxiety, or some pain. This is due to the endorphin which is released when one experiences pleasure. But that’s not all: like any physical activity practiced regularly, making love also allows you to increase your immune system and reduce cardiovascular risks. Sex makes it possible to keep the body in shape, to spend holy energy and thus to be in good health on a daily basis. When we have sex, our bodies also release hormones, including oxytocins and estrogen. These contribute to the well-being and tone of the skin. Finally, the serotonin secreted during orgasm helps improve sleep.
My partner refuses to make love every day
It can sometimes happen that your libido or that of your partner fluctuates. If either of you doesn’t feel like having sex every day, there is nothing to worry about. This does not mean that your relationship is threatened or that there is no longer desire between you. To make love, you must above all want it, and therefore be mentally “ready”: be excited and desire the other. Sometimes fatigue, daily boredom, anxiety or a strong emotion can disturb and temporarily lower libido. If so, talk about it within your relationship and try to understand the reasons for the problem, if there is one. In any case, never force yourself to have sex if you don’t feel like it, and never force someone either: nothing forces you to do so, whether you are in a relationship or not.
Does Daily Sex Increase Fertility?
Some studies agree that having sex every day is beneficial for sperm, and therefore for fertility. Although the volume of semen is less when you ejaculate for several days in a row, the quality would be higher. Indeed, daily ejaculation, or at least very frequent, would improve the quality of sperm. This is explained by the reduced time spent by the spermatozoa within the testes before being expelled, which would prevent them from coming into too much contact with oxidizing molecules, which are harmful to them. Thus, some doctors advise to have sex on a daily basis during the week before ovulation, in order to increase the chances of pregnancy.
