Magnokal

Magnocal is used in the supportive treatment of cardiovascular and heart diseases, in arrhythmia, hyperactivity of the heart (especially related to the deficiency of magnesium and potassium and in convalescence after a heart attack). Prophylactically and therapeutically in the states of potassium and magnesium deficiency. During convalescence after surgery and infectious diseases as well as in poisoning with cardiac glycosides and supplementary during the use of diuretics.

Magokal – indications and dosage

Magokal is a drug recommended:

  1. in supportive treatment of circulatory and heart diseases,
  2. in arrhythmia and hyperactivity (especially related to a deficiency of magnesium and potassium and in convalescence after a heart attack),
  3. prophylactically and therapeutically in the states of potassium and magnesium deficiency,
  4. during convalescence after surgery and infectious diseases,
  5. in case of poisoning with cardiac glycosides,
  6. supplementary while taking diuretics.

Drug dosage

Magnocal is in the form of tablets to be taken orally. Take the drug after meals.

  1. Adults: usually 2-6 tablets / day in 2 doses. division

Magnocal and contraindications

Contraindications to the use of the Magokal preparation are:

  1. allergy to any ingredient of the preparation,
  2. severe kidney failure,
  3. urinary tract infections
  4. bradycardia or disturbances in heart conduction (atrioventricular block),
  5. hyperkalemia,
  6. hypermagnesemia,
  7. myasthenia gravis,
  8. severe hypotension.

Magnocal – warnings

  1. Magnokal should not be used in the event of acute dehydration, extensive tissue damage (e.g. burns of large body surfaces).
  2. Do not administer Magnocal together with other drugs containing potassium or during antibiotic therapy.
  3. For long-term use, in the case of severe diarrhea and in patients treated with cardiac glycosides, blood levels of potassium and magnesium and renal function should be monitored, and an ECG test should be performed.
  4. Caution should be exercised in the case of gastric ulcer disease and renal failure. It is recommended to modify the dose after consulting your doctor.
  5. It magically contains sugar.
  6. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before using the preparation.

Magnocal and other substances

  1. By lowering your blood sugar you take oral sulfonylurea antidiabetic drugs.
  2. Digitalis glycosides in combination with potassium can cause cardiac arrhythmias.
  3. Taking preparations containing magnesium weakens the absorption of antibiotics from the group of tetracyclines and nitrofurantoin. There should be a 2-hour break between the administration of magnesium and the above-mentioned drugs.
  4. Potassium sparing diuretics and angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (e.g. perindopril, enalapril) as well as anti-inflammatory and pain relievers (e.g. indomethacin) may increase the amount of potassium in your blood (hyperkalaemia).
  5. Consumed meals do not affect the degree of absorption of the preparation.

Magnocal – side effects

While taking Magnokal, the following may occur:

  1. nausea,
  2. diarrhea,
  3. reddening of the skin,
  4. atrioventricular conduction disturbances (especially when taking too high doses),
  5. insomnia,
  6. muscle weakness.
