Macmiror Complex is a prescription drug that is prescribed by a doctor for fungal infections of the vagina and vulva. The composition of the drug Macmiror Complex is based on two basic compounds, which are nystatin and nifuratel. How does Macrimor Complex work and when should you take special precautions? How to dose the drug?
Macmiror Complex – composition and action
Macmiror Complex contains two active substances, i.e. nifuratel and nystatin. Nystatin belongs to the group of antibiotics they exhibit antifungal activity, with the strongest effect on Candida spp. Nifuratel is a synthetic compound that is an effective means of fighting protozoa, fungi and bacteria, which are most often responsible for all vaginal and vulvar infections.
The use of these two compounds in one drug makes Macmiror Complex a preparation effective in the treatment of vaginal infections. Both ingredients treat vaginal infections and restore vaginal conditions while reducing the risk of future infections. Importantly, the drug does not destroy the lactobacilli, which have a protective function and are present in the mucosa of every healthy woman. The drug applied topically does not penetrate into the blood, therefore it does not adversely affect the entire body.
Macmiror Complex – indications for the use of the drug
The indication for the use of Macmiror Complex is the treatment of vaginal and vulvar infections caused by bacteria, fungi of the genus Candida spp. And vaginal trichomoniasis. The formulation of the drug allows it to be used in all the above-mentioned diseases of the female reproductive system.
Contraindications to the use of the drug Macmiror Complex
Macmiror Complex cannot be used by all patients who are struggling with vaginal infections. Contraindication to the use of the drug is hypersensitivity to the active substances of the drug or any ingredient in this formulation. Special precautions should also be taken when using the drug. Always check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine. In addition, patients should during drug therapy avoid sexual contact.
Importantly, it is recommended that the patient’s partner also takes the nifuratel-based drug orally during treatment.
Macmiror Complex – drug dosage
Macmiror Complex should be used according to the doctor’s or pharmacist’s instructions. This preparation can be purchased in the form of globules that are used vaginally. According to the instructions in the leaflet, one globule should be used a day. The correct application of the drug consists in placing the pessary in the area of the posterior vaginal fornix. The prescriber should also explain to the patient how to place the pessary in the vagina.

Possible side effects after using Macmiror Complex
The use of Macmiror Complex may cause side effects, but they do not occur in every patient taking the drug. During treatment, symptoms such as:
- contact dermatitis,
- hives
- itching
- vaginal burning.
These symptoms are usually mild and usually disappear a few days after stopping treatment.
