The Aenor food Certification process
For the granting of a quality seal to certify and guarantee the aspects analyzed, it is necessary to have true professionals within the food industry, and the AENOR company is good proof of this.
In order to verify all these aspects for the award of the seal and following the strict guidelines of its regulations, AENOR has analyzed the entire McDonald’s meat process, from the farm to the restaurant.
For this, it has carried out audits in the cattle farms supplying beef, the slaughterhouses, the cutting rooms, the hamburger supplier OSI Food and the McDonald’s restaurants in Spain.
In addition, AENOR will carry out regular and regulated audits throughout the meat process in order to verify that the terms guaranteed by this seal are still being met.
The information analyzed is not trivial, since the food company works with more than 30.000 approved Spanish herds consuming 10.000 tons of Spanish beef per year.
Those tons are selected from pieces of meat, from its entire varieties of muscle from the forequarters and brisket, for the subsequent mincing and pressing in the elaboration of the well-known hamburgers of its big mac, quarter pound, etc …
In addition, McDonald’s has the first flagship Spanish beef farm in the Extremadura Dehesa. A benchmark in the development of responsible management practices, animal welfare and care for the environment.
The good management of this unique environment allows the cattle to graze in the wild for the entire year.
