MacArthur’s

The MacArthur blend was named after the heroic clan, whose antiquity can be judged from the Scottish proverb: “There is nothing older than the devil, the hills and the MacArthur clan.” The family tree of the clan begins with the legendary King Arthur, whose descendants scattered throughout the world. John MacArthur will forever remain in the history of Australia – the industrial wool production that glorified the continent began with him. Contributed to the heroic history of America, General Douglas MacArthur, famous for his bold strategy in World War II.

But high-profile victories are not the only feature of the clan. In 1877, the inhabitants of the Loch Awe MacArthur built a distillery and began to produce single malt whiskey, which was soon talked about throughout Scotland. And even magical properties were attributed to him: the drink allegedly aroused courage and unprecedented strength. The basis for such conjectures was the MacArthurs themselves, who were famous for their pride and courage, and were always in the thick of the historical events of Scotland and Britain.

The distillery on the shores of Loch Ave worked continuously, despite the strife in Scotland and English interference in the internal affairs of the Scots. But the volume of the drink produced was not large enough to sell it outside of Scotland.

The modern history of MacArthur’s began in 1982 – a dilapidated distillery with whiskey stocks was bought by Inver House Distillers. Master blenders created the drink by mixing the best scotchs of thirty distilleries that were little known or even stopped producing whiskey on their own. This policy proved to be very successful, and the high-quality result appealed to whiskey connoisseurs around the world. The blend includes drinks with a minimum exposure of 5 years and a maximum of 35 years.

history of the company

Inver House Distillers was founded in 1964 as a subsidiary of the American Publicker Industries, to produce Scotch whisky. Until the end of the 90s, the company was engaged in six small Scottish distilleries owned by Publicker Industries. But then 4 had to be closed due to the unprofitability of production – a lot of money was needed to increase capacity and modernize, which the company’s management decided not to spend. Therefore, distilleries began to be used as storage facilities.

In 1988, the company began the revival of Scottish production. Over the next five years, Inver House Distillers acquired 5 new malt plants – Pulteney, Balblair, Knockdhu, Speyburn and Balmenach, and thanks to successful solutions entered the global market. In 1992, she received the Queen Elizabeth Award for her achievements in the export of beverages.

In 2001, Inver House Distillers became part of Pacific Spirit (UK) Ltd, which is currently the leading beverage manufacturer in the Asian market. In the case of the company’s brands, in addition to single malt and blended whiskeys, there are wine and beer.

Inver House Distillers is still active in blending. The company’s warehouses store half a million barrels of whiskey and built a modern laboratory to create new drinks. In addition to MacArthur’s, the company owns Catto’s and Hankey Bannister brands.
