Lymph nodes for colds (inflammation of the lymph nodes against the background of a cold)

Often, against the background of a cold, inflammation of the lymph nodes occurs – this is one of the sad results of hypothermia and the activity of viruses. Since inflammation of the lymph nodes is considered one of the most dangerous complications of the common cold, it is very important to identify the symptoms in time and treat them.

Lymph nodes for colds (inflammation of the lymph nodes against the background of a cold)

In medical terms, inflammation of the lymph nodes with a cold called lymphadenitis. The lymph nodes themselves play a key role in maintaining immunity, so any change in their work, and especially inflammation, is a clear demonstration that the immune system has been seriously attacked by viruses or bacteria.

Symptoms of inflammation of the lymph nodes against the background of a cold

Most often, with a cold, inflammation of the lymph nodes in the neck, groin and armpits occurs. In fact, lymph nodes are specific formations in which leukocytes are “born”. The task of leukocytes is to capture viruses or bacteria that have entered our body so that they do not enter the bloodstream. In other words, lymph nodes are special filters that protect our body and react sensitively to any infectious aggression. Often, with a cold, the lymph nodes become inflamed, unable to withstand a viral attack. Symptoms indicating inflammation of the lymph nodes with a cold may be as follows:

  • An increase in lymph nodes in size, a noticeable induration in the area of their location;

  • Pain in the location of the lymph nodes;

  • A migraine is as strong as a cold or flu.

Methods for the treatment of lymphadenitis during a cold

Since the basis of lymphadenitis is an inflammatory process, all types of anti-inflammatory therapy are primarily used for its treatment: from antibiotics to grandmother’s recipes. Among the means of traditional medicine, the following are in good standing:

  • Inflammation of the lymph nodes with a cold is successfully treated with echinacea tincture. 10-15 drops of the tincture are diluted in a little water and taken 4-5 times a day. Echinacea several times increases the body’s ability to destroy viruses and bacteria on its own. Just as echinacea successfully helps to cure the cold itself, it also helps to dramatically reduce inflammation of the lymph nodes;

  • Vitamin C is just as successful with inflammation of the lymph nodes. The fact is that vitamin C, like no other, is a powerful stimulus for the production of leukocytes – the main fighters for our health;

  • Also, for the treatment of inflammation in the lymph nodes, along with the recipes of traditional medicine, more “scientific” methods are also used: special compresses, a course of antibiotics, UHF therapy, electropharesis, and sometimes, if necessary, surgery is prescribed.

If you decide to treat inflammation of the lymph nodes on your own, but after all the measures taken, you notice that the increase in their size is still progressing, contact your doctor immediately. After all, if you miss the time, the disease can give serious complications, including the most severe abscesses and even a blood infection.
