His truck converted into an operating theater has been performing its function for eight years. Because that’s how long for prof. Mirona Ugrin from Ukraine, the current war is going on. He is a maxillofacial surgeon and runs a clinic in Lviv. Since the invasion of Our Country on February 24, 2022, he has been assisting the wounded in his mobile mini-hospital. But he had done it before — in 2014 on the Maidan.
Before that, the truck was a TV broadcast car. Prof. Miron Ugrin calls her “the Elephant”. He has a second, smaller car — an ambulance called “Elephant”. He mainly performs facial treatments — he specializes in that, but these are by no means beauty surgeries.

“Most wounds are in the area of the face”
As prof. Miron Ugrin in an interview with PAP, “Most wounds are now in the area of the face, because in modern warfare you don’t shoot, but bombs”. It is the face, legs and arms that, according to the surgeon, are the most vulnerable to injuries.
Until now, his clinic has mainly dealt with children who have not developed milk teeth or with oncological patients. Now the doctor from Lviv helps the wounded first of all. He also runs a medical supplies warehouse in the clinic. Currently, he deals with soldiers who were injured during the attack on the training ground in Jaworów and are in the emergency department of the Military Hospital in Lviv.

“There is chaos that should not be”
Prof. Ugrin performed his first surgery in 2014 in Maidan. For him, the war began, which continues to this day. He has extensive experience and knows how to organize medical assistance in extreme conditions. “I know and understand logistics, I know what the demand is and what mistakes happen in humanitarian convoys” — said Miron Ugrin in an interview with RMF24.pl. “There is chaos that should not exist”.
