Lumps in the thyroid gland

When should they bother?

Recently, I performed an ultrasound of the thyroid gland, the doctor detected 2 nodules up to 1 cm, thyroid hormones are normal. I am worried if I should remove these nodules so that they do not develop cancer. What should I do, what other tests should I do to make sure everything is alright? May 42 years

Lumps in the thyroid gland are quite a common find. However, they are rarely associated with neoplastic disease. In order to find out what the nature of these changes is, they are sometimes biopsied under ultrasound guidance. This procedure is indicated when the nodules reach the size of 1 cm and above, when their ultrasound image is suspicious or there has been a history of thyroid cancer in the family.
