Risen onions are widely used in cooking. Its pleasant semi-sharp taste makes it suitable for preparing various salads, appetizers and hot dishes. Also, this variety tolerates conservation and freezing without loss of taste.

Bulbs of the “Stuttgarter Riesen” variety are large and dense, round and slightly flattened in shape. The husk can be different. Its color ranges from white to brown-orange. But the inner scales are always white.

You can plant Risen onions both in spring and in autumn.

On average, an onion head weighs between 90 and 150 grams. But if favorable conditions are created, then the weight of the bulb can reach 250 grams.

Risen onions are early varieties. The growing period for planting with sevk is only 60-70 days. If you plant seeds, then the harvest can be harvested in 3,5-4 months.

The “Stuttgarter Riesen” variety is characterized by high resistance to diseases and pests

This onion is rightfully considered a high-yielding onion. Due to the unpretentiousness of this variety, 1 kg of onions grows on 5 m² even without special care. And with proper care, up to 8 kg are collected from one square meter.

Stuttgarter Riesen can grow on any soil. But a good harvest is guaranteed on chernozem with a neutral acidity level.

There are 2 ways to grow onions:

  • from sevka;
  • from seeds.

Before planting on the beds, the onion sets “Risen” must be sorted out. The damaged bulbs are discarded. Then the planting material is heated. To do this, it is laid out in an even layer in a room where the temperature is 35-40 degrees. Then the set should be left in warm water for 6-12 hours.

The sevok is planted in even rows, the distance between the grooves should be at least 20 cm. The interval between the bulbs is approximately 10 cm. The onion sets are buried a couple of centimeters and then sprinkled with soil.

Seeds are soaked before planting and slightly dried. They are sown in furrows 2 cm deep. The interval between seeds should be 1–2 cm. The crops are covered with peat. There is no need to tamp and water the ground. After the emergence of shoots, the sprouts need to be thinned out

Varietal qualities of “Stuttgarter” allow you to collect a bountiful harvest, regardless of growing conditions. The variety “Stuttgarter Riesen”, which was developed by German breeders, is in great demand in the market. Popularity is associated with high productivity, unpretentiousness and excellent taste. In addition, the bulbs have a long shelf life.
