Lucid dreaming

Lucid dreaming

Lucid dreaming is a window to another world. According to the practitioners of this phenomenon, plunging into a state of altered consciousness, people are able to meet other people and even travel between worlds.

This term was introduced at the end of the XNUMXth century by the Dutch psychiatrist F. van Eden. Later, the phenomenon of lucid dreaming, or OS, was developed by K. Castaneda, who developed practical methods of sleep awareness. Following them, a sleeping person is able to understand his state and can control sleep and its attributes. At the first level of training, a person learns to distinguish between sleep and reality, wake up during sleep and control his condition. At the second level, it gradually alters the reality of the dream. On the third, a person can completely control sleep, moving to any point in space, creating complex objects and people.

Being in a dream, it is very difficult to understand that everything that happens around is unreal. To begin with, you need to learn how to control falling asleep: be aware that you are falling asleep, that the images that arise are a figment of your imagination. In a dream, turn on logic, find evidence that you are not in the real world. Castaneda advises looking at your hands: your imagination will not be able to recreate them with accuracy. You can also try to remember past events, in a dream you will not succeed. You can move from one point to another, in a dream it will happen either very quickly or too slowly. Good ways are to look at an inscription, a watch face, or your reflection in a mirror. In a dream, all this will be very unstable and changeable.

Sleep for at least 8 hours. Only with full sleep does our brain experience the so-called REM sleep phase, during which you see dreams.

Once you have learned to be aware of the dream, try to change any of its details. Start small – by changing the background or the appearance of small objects. You will soon learn how to create complex objects and even simulate situations. Take your time and exercise more often. In the process, you will need to memorize your dreams. To do this, every day after waking up, do not get up immediately, lie down for a while with your eyes closed, scroll your dream in your head, and then write it down, noting your thoughts and feelings. A dream diary like this will help you keep track of your progress.

After realizing the dream, try to stay in it for as long as possible. Often the subconscious mind cannot tolerate the dissonance that has arisen and literally throws it into a state of wakefulness

Why the practice of lucid dreaming is beneficial

By simulating certain situations, you can “rehearse” an upcoming speech or difficult conversation, scroll through various psychological situations and even get rid of some phobias. In addition, in a dream, you will have additional time to solve work tasks and think over the tactics of cooperation. And many travelers in a dream claim that they can effortlessly move around the world, meet different people and even look into other worlds.
