TSH is a hormone that is determined by a blood test. Low TSH can be a sign of an overactive thyroid gland. There can be many reasons for this. By observing your body, you can tell if there are any problems with the thyroid gland. Then you should see a doctor so that he can give you a referral for medical examinations.
Low TSH – What is the Hormone?
TSH is also known as thyrotropin hormone. It is secreted by the pituitary gland to send signals to the thyroid gland to produce the right amount of the hormones triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4). These hormones are responsible for metabolic processes and their action is based on feedback. The thyroid gland is responsible for maintaining the proper hormonal balance in the body. TSH levels – too high or too low – however, may not always be a sign of thyroid problems. There is no need to prepare yourself for the TSH level test. It involves taking a blood sample.
Not only TSH helps in the diagnosis of thyroid diseases. Do you want to undergo in-depth preventive examinations? Book your thyroid function tests and make an appointment now. In turn, the Thyroid Research Package can be purchased at Medonet Market. You can check anti-TPO antibodies, the level of FT4 and TSH hormones.
Low TSH – symptoms
Typically, low TSH suggests an overactive thyroid gland. Symptoms include:
- nervousness, anxiety and irritability,
- mood swings,
- excessive sweating,
- dyspnoea,
- shaking hands
- increased heart rate, a feeling of pounding heart
- losing weight despite a large appetite,
- diarrhea and frequent bowel movements
- muscle weakness
- hair loss,
- menstrual disorders and infertility,
- vision problems – exophthalmia, double vision, swelling and redness of the eyelids or conjunctiva.
The symptoms listed above may vary in severity in different people. If an overactive thyroid is suspected, a doctor (it may even be a family doctor) should be consulted who, after an interview, will decide whether an appropriate blood test for serum TSH levels should be performed.
You can also perform a preventive examination yourself, using the Home TSH level test – a cassette test, thanks to which you can determine the condition of your thyroid gland.
Prophylactically, it is worth using supplements supporting the functioning of the thyroid gland, eg Thyroid Complex – ThyroidComplex Viridian in the form of capsules. We also recommend the ThyroMe Complex Health Labs kit – daily thyroid support available on Medonet Market at a favorable price.

Low TSH – hyperthyroidism
If the result of the initial TSH serum test is abnormal, then additional tests for the concentration of individual FT4 and / or FT3 hormones are performed. With hyperthyroidism, it produces hormones without TSH, so its levels are low, and hormones are high. However, it is important to remember that abnormal hormone levels do not necessarily mean thyroid disease, and may be caused by other factors, including:
- pregnancy – the HCG hormone secreted by the placenta may act similarly to TSH,
- antidepressants, steroids, anti-parkinsonian drugs,
- starvation,
- chronic diseases – circulatory failure, acute psychiatric conditions.
It is therefore important to establish the cause of hyperthyroidism, and to do this, additional tests are necessary, such as:
- Thyroid ultrasound,
- biopsy – if you find thyroid nodules
- sometimes scintigraphy – you should have a referral for this test from an endocrinologist; if the treatment is private, the study is not reimbursed.
To support thyroid function, order EutroHerbs Thyroid – a herbal blend that contains knotweed herb, rose fruit, rowan fruit, nettle leaf, valerian root, licorice rhizome and Icelandic lichen.
The sensitivity of the thyroid gland to TSH is improved by the inositol present in the Daily Thyro ° supplement on the thyroid gland. You can order it today at a promotional price on Medonet Market.
Treatment of hyperthyroidism is always pharmacological and consists in inhibiting the production of thyroid hormones, inhibiting the effects of the thyroid gland and eliminating abnormal thyroid tissue. Such treatment is a long-term process and requires the daily intake of thyroid hormones prescribed by a physician. The first effects are visible from about a month after starting their use. Constant care of an endocrinologist is also necessary – everyone who has been diagnosed with an overactive thyroid disease must bear this in mind.
If you have problems with the thyroid gland, it is worth introducing herbs to your diet that will support it. On Medonet Market you will find, among others A tea for the thyroid gland, which includes couch grass, melilot, speedwell, Icelandic lichen, hen cinquefoil, carbier. Thus, it is recommended for people with a disturbed endocrine system. The tea can be bought on its own or in a special Thyroid Kit, which also includes evening primrose oil and a dietary supplement with licorice root. We also recommend a special herbal blend Hyperthyroidism, which can aid in the treatment of hyperthyroidism.
