Low-fat dairy: how to make it yourself? Video
Since many people are characterized by a sedentary lifestyle and the absence of heavy physical activity, the problem of obesity has become the scourge of modern society. In this regard, people who monitor their health and control weight try to eat low-calorie low-fat foods, including dairy.
Benefits of low-fat dairy products
Saturated fats, which are found in regular milk and other dairy products, contribute to high blood cholesterol levels. This leads to the formation of cholesterol plaques inside the vessels and provokes the development of atherosclerosis. Since dairy products are consumed by many on a daily basis, they play a prominent role in the diet, and their fat content affects daily intake.
Research conducted by physicians and nutritionists has shown that eating low-fat dairy products prevents the development of atherosclerosis and prevents diseases such as diabetes mellitus and hypertension. Although, the calorie content of low-fat dairy products may be the same as conventional ones, since they have a higher carbohydrate content.
Who is recommended for low-fat dairy products?
It is especially beneficial to consume low-fat dairy products for healthy adults who are watching their weight. But for people weakened by the disease, who are in the rehabilitation period, it is better to use ordinary milk and its derivatives. Nutritionists do not recommend buying low-calorie foods for children and adolescents who spend a lot of energy every day and whose body is just forming.
For the proper formation of the skeleton, calcium is very important, which is contained in dairy products, but fats are necessary for it to be absorbed in the body. Therefore, it is better not to use skim milk if you decide to cook porridge for a small child. Note that even toddlers’ dry mixes that need to be diluted with water contain fat.
Low-fat dairy products are high in trans fats that the human body cannot process. They accumulate in tissues, which can adversely affect health.
Is it worth it to completely abandon conventional dairy products?
Nutritionists believe that it is not necessary to completely eliminate high-fat dairy products from your diet. Some of them, such as, for example, the Russian physician, Doctor of Science Alexei Kovalkov, recommends not to break the nutritional system that has evolved from birth, and continue to consume ordinary dairy products, simply by limiting their quantity. In addition, he advises paying attention to the composition of low-fat products and choosing those that contain fewer preservatives and flavors, which manufacturers generously add to the same yoghurts and curds to make them tastier.
