Only in mild states of hypoglycaemia, occurring in people with diabetes (usually relatively well-versed as to the nature of the disease and ailments), manifested only by slight drowsiness, general weakness and strong sweating, first aid does not need to be provided by a doctor.

Hypoglycaemia may suggest the appearance of these symptoms shortly after insulin injection, after which the patient has not eaten a proper meal.

If in these cases the patient becomes drowsy, give well-sweetened tea, bread with honey or jam, candies, etc. The low blood sugar levels disappear quite quickly.

If such a procedure does not bring the expected improvement in well-being, medical attention is required.

Any cases of disturbed consciousness or excessive sleepiness in people with diabetes require urgent medical attention.
