Warm family relationships can reduce the risk of serious diseases, even if there is a genetic predisposition to them.

A group of researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles (USA), led by Professor Shelley Taylor, tried to find out how omnipotent the “depression gene” 5HTTLPR is. It turned out that those gene carriers who were surrounded by mutual love and support rarely suffer from depression: the “bad” gene practically does not manifest itself.
