Lorista (losartan) is a drug from the group of angiotensin II receptor antagonists (also called ARB drugs – short for Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers), which limits the action of the substance responsible for the contraction of blood vessels and the release of aldosterone. Lorista is a drug used in the treatment of arterial hypertension and in the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

Lorista’s action

Angiotensin II constricts the blood vessels and increases the release of aldosterone, leading to a pathological increase in blood pressure. Present in Larista the active substance blocks the effect of angiotensin II thus lowering the blood pressure. The active substance is present in the drug Lorista, or losartan, has a beneficial effect on blood vessels, lowers blood pressure, without the side effects of coughing, and due to the reduction of blood vessel resistance, it also improves exercise capacity and can be successfully used in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, including, in particular, heart failure. Lorista has a protective effect on the kidneys, as it reduces the risk of disturbances in their work associated with high blood pressure and diabetes.

Effect on lowering blood pressure after taking the drug Lorista lasts for 24 hours. The therapeutic effect in the form of a permanent reduction of blood pressure is observed after about three weeks of using the preparation Lorista.

Indications for the use of Lorista

Lek Lorista it is used to treat essential hypertension in adults. Lorista is indicated in the treatment of kidney diseases in adults with hypertension and type 2 diabetes. It is also used in the treatment of chronic heart failure when ACE inhibitors are not appropriate for this purpose, for example due to the occurrence of side effects in the form of chronic cough. Lorist It is also taken prophylactically to reduce the risk of stroke in adults with high blood pressure and left ventricular hypertrophy.

Contraindications to taking Lorista

Loristy can not accept patients allergic to any component of the preparation, especially the active substance, as well as people with liver failure. It is not advisable to use Loristy in the first trimester of pregnancy, while in the second and third trimesters and during breastfeeding, its use is excluded due to the risk of harm to the fetus and negative impact on the child’s health.

Side effects when using Lorista

Taking the drug Lorista may be associated with an occurrence side effects. These include: swelling of the mouth, tongue, throat and larynx, which may cause breathing difficulties, hypotension (excessive reduction in blood pressure), sodium deficiency, fluid and electrolyte imbalance. Use Loristy may cause hyperkalaemia, i.e. an increase in the level of potassium in the blood. Hyperkalemia can cause serious heart problems, therefore during drug therapy Lorista blood tests should be performed to diagnose the level of potassium levels. In patients with kidney problems taking the preparation Lorista blood creatinine and urea levels should be monitored.
