Loose powder: reviews

The secrets of the perfect tone have been invented for decades: foundations, fluids, foundations, BB and CC creams, loose and compact powders, not to mention care and cosmetic procedures. The Woman’s Day editorial team tested loose powders this time and shares their impressions with you.

Chanel, Vitalumière loose powder, 3785 rubles

Vasilisa Naumenko, beauty editor:

– I have always treated loose powders with disdain: I do not like a transparent tone, but it cannot provide a dense coating, my skin is dry, so it is not necessary to apply powder to the foundation. But when I saw a novelty in the store – Vitalumière loose tonal powder from Chanel, I could not resist, and the story “How I fell in love with loose powders” began.

Included with the powder is a kabuki brush – I am ready to talk about this invention of mankind for days: a soft brush cannot injure even the most sensitive skin, and also makes the application of powder dense and weightless at the same time.

First of all, I tested the powder on a clean face without foundation. The result was impressive – the effect was like a good makeup base: the skin became even, matte and smooth.

The next day, I applied the Chanel Summer Fluid Foundation and brushed the powder lightly all over my face. I liked the result: the makeup lasted in perfect condition until the end of the evening, but gave in quite easily when it was time to wash it off.

Manufacturers promise the effect of tonal fluid, and it really is achieved, getting rid of all the unevenness, but if you like a dense coverage, I advise you to apply a foundation fluid or a foundation under loose powder.

Smashbox, Halo Hydrating Perfecting, 1690 рублей

Kristina Semina, section editor “Life style“:

– I am quite conservative in the choice of cosmetics, if the product suits me, then I have been using it for years. This also applies to my favorite powder. But after reading the positive reviews about Halo Hydrating Perfecting from Smashbox, I decided to test it.

First of all, I will tell you my impressions of the tonal effect. I tried using the product in three ways – after the Photo Finish primer from Smashbox, after the foundation, after the day cream.

I didn’t really like the first method. The powder heavily clogged the pores, could not hide the imperfections, and on the skin 15 minutes after application, I felt a slight tingling (but here, perhaps, the primer simply did not suit me).

The use of powder after foundation is more pleasing. The makeup lasted for 12 hours, all the imperfections were hidden, the face looked fresh and even, and at the same time there was no feeling of makeup on the face.

The use of powder after a day cream is only suitable if the skin is in perfect condition. The tool does not hide flaws, but gives the face a fresh look. In all three cases, the powder adheres well to the skin, does not roll, and has a pleasant texture.

Now I will note the caring properties. The instructions say that Halo Hydrating Perfecting, Smashbox moisturizes. This is indeed the case. Recently, due to the change in weather and the turning on of the heating after washing off the makeup, I began to notice that my skin began to peel off. But after the powder it stopped. Moreover, the result was after the first use. The instructions also say that the minerals, gold, amino acids and peptides in the composition have a rejuvenating effect and protect the skin from the negative effects of the environment. In this, it seems to me, it is also quite possible to believe.

And I will say about one more significant advantage of powder. This is her attachment. When you touch it with a brush, exactly as much product is dispensed as needed. So there are excellent product savings. The only negative is that the powder did not give my skin the special shine that the manufacturer promises.

Artdeco, Mineral Powder Foundation, about 800 rubles

Nastya Obukhova, editor of the Fashion and Shopping section:

– I got the shade 02 “Natural Beige” for testing, with a yellow undertone. Since my skin has a distinct pink undertone, this shade of powder did not suit me very much, as, in fact, the product itself. Despite the fact that the powder according to the description seemed almost perfect, she did not want to lay down on my skin correctly.

I use cosmetics to a minimum, that is, in addition to cleansing, toning and moisturizing, nothing else is included in my daily ritual. I don’t use makeup base at all. From decorative cosmetics I can only afford a thin layer of powder, mascara and eyeliner. Maybe Mineral Powder Foundation should be applied to some kind of base. The manufacturer promises perfect, even coverage and natural radiance of the skin after application.

To be honest, it was a pity that the powder did not suit me. According to the description, it is suitable for all skin types and contains natural ingredients, including beneficial minerals. What it lacks is oils, talc and wax, which is very important to me. At the same time, loose powder should be suitable for any type of skin.

Unfortunately, the powder lay on my skin unevenly and clogged into the pores at the first application. At the same time, my experiment with powder did not have a negative effect on the skin: no new inflammations or comedones appeared, for which special thanks to the manufacturer. Nevertheless, with my skin prone to oily skin, the powder for some reason emphasized the peeling on the nose from nowhere. I want to note that my skin is very capricious, so it’s hardly a matter of the powder itself.
